My guess is a smaller figure. Rattrap or tigatron for maximals. Tarantulas or waspinator for preds. The engineering for tigatron is pretty much there from Cheetor just have to enlarge and tweak.

With us just getting shadow panther and a cheetor reissue, I am really hoping it's NOT tigatron. I want to see something with different engineering

Actually Tigatron is pretty big. For smaller maximals we have rattrap or airazor. A MP airazor would be amazing, especially considering how lacking she is toys-wise.

Primal's size, was more pointing to the engineering being there.

There are some real great photos here.

I gotta say, After having him now for nearly half a year, transforming him a few times, posing him, this really is an incredible figure. I realllly enjoy having him. This is a really special figure to me, and really stands out from my collection. It's taken me a bit to get used to the size. Having him next to Optimus makes him look oversized, even if it's accurate. But I've adjusted to it. It just makes me want a Masterpiece Rhinox more so that the teams sizing can feel a bit more balanced and rounded out.

But in both Robot and Beast modes, he's just so expressive, dynamic, and screen accurate. He isn't perfect, but he's so close and so well done I realllly enjoy this figure. It's honestly weird how often I look at him.

I'm still Loving this figure but your comment has reminded me how long I've had him without even once transforming him. Love the Raptor mode!

Indeed I've barely transformed mine either, I though about it the other day and started the process before bottling it and putting him back on the shelf in robot mode. It's not the most intuative of transformations and quite nerve wracking with the potential of paint chipping and ratchet damage....almost seems more trouble than it's worth. That said I might give it a go later today to add some best mode photos to the below.

    IMG_6573.JPG IMG_6589.JPG IMG_6609.JPG IMG_6620.JPG IMG_6629.JPG IMG_6635.JPG IMG_6656.JPG IMG_6669.JPG IMG_6687.JPG

I'll be interested to see if he is reissues by TT purely because I'd like to find out what I will do when he is. I pre-ordered a second 'back-up' Primal and Cheetor because they were cheap enough that it didn't feel quite so silly...the price of a second Dinobot or indeed Megatron would test my resolve in that regard.

My money's on the next new mould being Rattrap. He'd compliment Primal, Cheetor and Dinobot and be small enough that he wouldn't be competing with the other large price tag MPs we already have on the slate for the next 9 months. Not that I don't expect them to throw a few extras like accessories or a stand to bring that price up a bit.

After a few times transforming him, I'm finding his transformation fairly intuitive myself overall. You unhook everything and most pieces just start falling into place. From beast to robot is definitely a little easier, as hooking his thigh pieces into place can be a little awkward, but I don't find it too bad.

I have a little bit of paint chipping on the robot legs, but you have to look for it to see it generally. Being able to transform him is far too important to me to worry about some chipping, but with the cost of the figure I can see why others may have a different evaluation.

For me, I can't not transform them. I look at my Maximals on the shelf together... and I'm like "What do they look like all in beast mode together?", so I go and transform them all, despite having seen what they look like before. Then after a few days I'm like... "hmm, I think I want them all to be in Robot Mode again", and the cycle continues.

Yeah I understand your point, these are transforming figures and that's part of the joy. However this is where complex figures like Dinobot don't do it for me, I find them too daunting! I'm to worried I'll break or damage something. Maybe if I'd transformed him back and forth a couple of times when I first got him I might be more confident but as it is I've totally forgotten.

So I got him out today as promised and open up that roadmap of an instruction manual start trying to follow it...backwards...urrgghhh..I almost quit. An hour and a cup of tea later after referring to some transformation videos I got there but I wouldn't call it a fun experience. Indeed right towards the end I gave mine some of those stress marks we were all worried about back when the first reviews started surfaceing :(

It's an incredible feat of engineering for sure, and there's some clever stuff in there it's not something I'd wanna to very often as I'm almost certain I'd miss an important step or be a little to heavy handed and snap...that's a £150 figure ruined. Anyway now he's in raptor mode I'll snap a few photos before transforming him back.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Which part of the transformation generally makes you get lost? Maybe I can give you some tips on what I do?

Oh it's not that I get lost per se. Just that it's not obvious what order to do things in, again that would come with practice. However the whole process is fairly joyless due to the terrifyingly potential for damage, even if the end results are both very pleasing. I absolutely love what they are doing with the BWMP's I just wish they put more thought into making these guys durable enough to withstand multiple transformations and a reasonable amount of handling. As it is they seem almost booby trapped!

The only part of the transformation that ever feels potentially damaging is the arms/legs transformation when you have to twist things around. But as long as you hold it by the pivot, I never feel like the danger is really that high. And have we heard of any actually breaking yet that way?

To get into beast mode I generally do beast chest -> robot legs folding -> back -> Beast legs. I find nothing tends to get in the way of anything else that way

Each to thier own. I just don't find it very enjoyable and worry about paint chipping/scraping or worse. It bugs me that those stress marks were so easy to accidentally cause too, that joint/panel seems poorly designed to me.

I may be mistaken but I think I remember reading that you need to transform those back panels in a certain order to avoid those stress marks. And yes, it should be more forgiving.

I’m still putting off adding floor polish to my copy because I cringe at the thought of adding any liquid to a figure like this. But mine cannot stand in either mode and I’m not crazy about the stand so I’ll need to do it at some point.

Yes you do, this became apparent AFTER I'd done the damage. It should either not be happening or there should be a warning in the instructions, it's so easily done. Luckily I could see the marks forming and instantly stopped so the damage is minimal.

Yeah I've done it with mine to protect the paint. The ankles on mine are weak in both modes but less so in robot mode. They really could do with some ratchets or at least stronger joints.

I was hoping for a KO version for around $100 like how MP-36 Megatron got an improved version for that much, but I have yet to see any good KO Beast Wars Masterpiece figures happen, so despite hating the price, considering how insanely great MP BW Megatron looks and the awesome reveal of MP Blackarachina, I finally pulled the trigger on getting this sucker. He should get to me in 3 to 5 days...

I can't go through even half of 707 pages of this thread, so can someone please give me a rundown on what I need to know when I get him? Things to do a certain way when transforming or posing as not to screw the figure up or break it? Mods I should probably do to avoid issues or easily improve it?

A Dinobot figure that is often listed on ebay as a KO MP Dinobot, yes, but it is a fairly crummy knockoff of a figure designed by someone else. It was a 3D printed design that was actually really good until MP-41 blew it away (visually at least).
Far from being a KO version of MP 41 though, I know.
