Any new ETA on the kick starter going up yet? I know with the prototype delays that likely pushed it back, but pretty hyped for these still.

Heya, random question for when you have the chance to answer, no rush.

So we know that the Yamazuki gangs will also include a Yamazuki Queen, and I assume that the Yamazuki Generals are still on the cards - I don't know whether these two will be retools or new moulds, but presumably they're going to exist. Will the Queens and Generals be available in all four colours that exist for the foot troopers, or only exist in certain colour variants? I'm down for the Kings, but some people might like to know in advance which gangs will have which members in the same colour so they know which to start collecting if they want to get them all.

So I supported the Comic Kickstarter and took advantage of the Basic Bastard deal. It was advertised that the figure would be shipped immediately (just like the Otomo option).

Its been over 5 weeks since the $90 Transaction on my Credit Card and I havent received any notification since the “Funded” and Transaction email.

The KS actually says October Shipping despite the Immediate description so Im cool with it. Otomo says September. I wonder if those supporters were contacted?

It just seems weird how there has been zero communication since our supporting the comic project...

On another note, should we expect the Yamazuki KS to begin around the upcoming convention (isnt there one next month)?

We're just sourcing all the stock from the factory and then we will start shipping out the toy rewards from the comic KS.

I would love to have the Yamazuki KS live for TFCon but there's still a few costing issues to be sorted out with the factory, and we can't launch the KS project without knowing accurate costs. This is the reason for the continued delay of the Yamazuki KS.

Sorry for the non-update, but man, it was certainly a bummer to not see Unrustables at TF Con :(

CZ, Yamauzki update by any chance?

...another 5 weeks of “sourcing toy rewards”. So glad my “reward” will be my second Bastard as otherwise it would be a very long wait indeed.

...who am I kidding? Its still a long wait.

    Lol

Seems like MM has gone rather dormant on these boards. Is there a better way for you to communicate with them about your rewards? Perhaps via KS or FB?

CZ responds in time. You can see above that he typically posts within 48 hrs of a post requesting info.

Technically the ship date on the Basic Bastard was October so its not like this is a way overdue issue.

Im not stressed. Im sure they’ll come thru.

Bump! I know there's all the issues going on with Spence and the factories that's affecting both Unrustables and Maas stuff, so was just curious if we think this is still going to go forward (if so, when? Last ETA was August 2018, before everything blew up), or if it's DOA.

By my understanding (which may be flawed, correct me if I'm wrong), the Yamazuki line will be fundraised via the MAAS Toys website instead of Kickstarter; MAAS is waiting to complete the one or two projects they currently have in the pipeline before they proceed further with the Yamazuki concept. Also, the project has since moved to another factory since the last batch of prototypes was produced, and new prototypes are being produced as changes have been made to the design since last summer. There isn't currently an ETA on when the fundraiser will kick off as the concept is still in its infancy, but it is still very much alive. Message @Spence for more details, as he is the head of MAAS Toys and one of the three guys who own and operate Mayhem Mekanics.

Based on the last Maas update, I get the feeling they might not try to self-fund again (or make changes to their wording and system so the commitments are forced to follow through, heh), but go through KS instead.

The problem with going through Kickstarter is that KS charges a 5% cut of your funding goal as soon as that goal is met, so some of your raised total is deducted before you've even started moving forward. That can be a problem if you've just managed to scrape past your goal and you need every penny you've managed to raise. Crowdfunding projects through your own platform means that there's no-one else leaning over you, waiting for their pound of flesh, and all that money can be dedicated to funding the project it was raised for -- well, in-theory, at least. Doing the fundraising yourself will obviously have its own caveats and drawbacks.

I think Kickstarted projects do generally build the fees into their goal amount, so if (for example) they need a minimum of $10k to create their thing, the KS goal will probably be 11k to cover the $550 fees and another $450 wiggle room for unexpected expenses, or something along those lines. Running a campaign through a different website means they can probably get away with lower or no fees, at the cost of potentially lower visibility and potential pledgers being unwilling to trust their money to a lesser known organisation.

    (Edited to correct math.)

Yeah, I think everyone knows (or I'd hope so at least lol) that places like Kickstarter make their money too.

But this is a perfect example of why it's worth it - okay, you lose 5%, but in this case they lost a looooot more than that from unfulfilled obligations and chargebacks. Those are the type of things that 5% can protect you from (as KS has dedicated teams to deal with that shit).

Same reason so many of us still sell on eBay - Paypal and eBay take way too much of it, but even after I sell something with "free" shipping, it's *still* more than I'd make selling on the boards here or, even worse, FB groups lol. Plus it sells a lot faster. They just have the market, the audience, and the safety net for buyers to fell safe.

Anyways, I hope MM and Maas pull through this, but it seems like the tetra jets are already in a bad spot, so I don't have high hopes. It's a shame things have turned kind of sour and problematic across the board. Originally the MM stuff wasn't supposed to impact Maas at all.

Mayhem's stuff affects MAAS because Spence is a part owner of Mayhem, and owner-entire of MAAS. MAAS is also Mayhem's means of manufacturing and distribution. So yeah, anything affecting Mayhem in terms of manufacturing or distribution will likely have some knock-on effect on MAAS, too.

As for the tetra jet stuff, I have no dog in that race nor any knowledge regarding the project, so I have no grounds to comment, other than to say that Spence is a decent guy in my experience and he does his damnedest to make sure things work out, so no sense throwing in the towel yet.

Yeah I'm aware - just saying with the UB stuff went down, Spence said that it *wouldn't* affect Maas. Unfortunate that it did.
