I was on the fence, So I googled Susanoo and came across this tread. I decided to read EVERY comment here to get an idea on this figures quality (Including that guy who insisted that this figure needed a Pretender Shell to be a "True Masterpiece").

So I bought the last Susanoo TFSource had, and my result is:

    Chipped Paint on the feet

The turret sorta stays on (it won't even entertain the notion of lifting the figure by the turret like Vangelus did)

The Sword was a REALLY tight fit in the hand, it says on now.

Due to the knowledge that the figure is kinda fragile, the transformation was a terrifying process.

Overall, I Really like this figure

Where was this at? I've been holding off since the price just seems to keep dropping.

    DNA Design - DS-01 - Susanoo

Here's a pic that I posted awhile back in the 3rd party cool stuffs thread last year with his younger brother and THF Megs.

Man, I should get this guy out. Certainly looks nice, but he's... Kinda scary to mess with and transform.

Is there a place to get the replacement parts without buying the second bot?

The only suggestion is to see if anyone has Arashii and can give the shoulder upgrades to you.

As I stated a couple of pages back in the tread (or in the Arashii thread): "DNA Designs is not going to sell the upgrades shoulders separately to anyone who requests it and they also posted it on their Facebook page".

I'll see if I can find it as proof.

Edit: Go to the DNA Banzaitron thread and see posts #38 and #39
    DNA Design Banzaitron (Susanoo repaint).

So don't shoot me as I'm just relaying the message to you and others that want the same thing.

Shoulders are scary tight but I find if I hold the arm close to the shoulder while moving slowly I'm able to get him safely into different poses. I'm looking forward to getting Arashii next paycheck :D

You know, when ever I see this guy just standing straight up and down, I cant help but feel underwhelmed. Its not until hes put into an action/dynamic pose, like in your picture, that he looks pretty amazing.

I have been on the fence with getting the figure. What do people think who have it? How is the transformation and plastic quality? I was blown away when pics of the figure were first shown years ago.

Sorry for bumping the thread, but I got this guy out the other day after being on the shelf forever and felt like talking about him.

Surprisingly, he's a lot better than I remember. I think the biggest issue with him is that he's just so gosh darn fiddly. Lots of little panels, some weird tolerances, and things that don't always like tabbing in. I almost feel a little too much was put into the engineering. Like, if they streamlined the design a bit, sure he may lose some of the intricacy, but he'd be a lot more fun to mess with. I look at the shin panels for instance and there are a bunch of panels that all fold and move. The end result certainly looks good, but nothing really... Locks in to place. And I wonder if it didn't have so many panels, would the appearance of the figure really suffer much?
Plus, having a less involved design would no doubt help the transformation which is also kinda messy.

But visually... Oh man, does he look good. Robot mode, tank mode... Incredible. After straightening out the little bits, he's striking, especially if you can find a good pose for him (not too hard, honestly). I also find curling the front hip skirt and some of the tread armor really helps poses as it gives a sort of motion to him. Paired with a giant effin' sword and probably the coolest gun I've seen, he definitely makes his mark on the shelf.

In the end, this guy is definitely a display piece. Not something you can casually mess with like, say, an MMC figure (I wonder what an MMC Bludgeon would be like, hmm...). He's certainly not bad, but could definitely use some tweaking and streamlining.
I'm glad I decided to get him down from the shelf. He's revitalized some love I had for the figure. Plus, a Samurai tank robot is always cool.

I just got a DS-02 Arashi recently and he certainly looks amazing! HftD Banzaitron looks miniscule next to him!

I am calling him Stormbringer, the 9 fingered Samurai... as he is missing a finger out of the box.  <-- this also looks like his face...
I can head cannon him to have taken one of pinkies off after a botched mission and had to answer to Megs.

While his joints aren't loose per se, he feels like the floppiest thing ever. The turret... WTF?!? Falls off whenever you take a glance at him!

Oh, and not transforming him EVER. Got him for a feudal Japan collection of bots and robot mode is how he's staying forever!

These guys go well in my Ninja-senshi-tobikage collection as the enemy Venkas. Color schemes to the wind.

Don't have a DS-01, so talking about the DS-02, which is supposedly an improvement? It's not about the joints. They're fine and can hold a pose once you've got it in position. However, he "feels" floppy as heck. His thigh armour doesn't tab in anywhere, so they're constant just shifting around. The lower leg has the tiniest peg/notch and rarely tabs in and shifts around all the time. His turret just falls off every time you touch him. His hands and fingers seem super loose and you're always fiddling around with them whenever posing. He feels unbalanced and loose, always feeling like it's about to topple over until you get the pose just right.

Yeah, Susanoo is exactly this. He has a lot of moving bits and none of them really satisfyingly lock in, leaving him feeling floppy. Or maybe "mushy" is a better term...
Sad to hear Arashi still carries over some of Susanoo's issues. I recall people missing fingers out of the box (luckily I didn't experience this). The turret not tabbing in is also a widespread issue.
It's really a shame. With a bit of fit and finish, this guy could've been incredible. I still love him to death, and he looks amazing, but as he is... He's definitely a figure I'm in no hurry to take from the shelf to mess with.

Decided to take the plunge on Susanoo. Robot Kingdom has him for $89.00. He's no longer at American stores and Ebay sellers are asking $135 and above.

Let us know how he is. I really want one of these but only if it won't make like half the Marvel Universe after Thanos snapped right to it when I touch it.
