really loving these background shots.. are they being projected from a monitor? or because they seem to glow and bleed on to the figures. really creative stuff

 

So, I'm a bit confused here. MP-29+ seems to go as either "toy" version or "anime" version. Which is it; toy or anime accuracy? Everyone loves the darker purple, but which version of Shockwave actually resembles the G1 cartoon most accurately? I've looked and compared, and in all honesty, the original MP-29 seems to match up better with the cartoon. Just curious what peeps say/think/feel here.

 

This color is Magenta. That is all.

 

Man I'm getting it tomorrow. Can't wait.

 

FWIW, TTMall lists it as "animated color version", describes the remolded head, and has comparison screenshots to the cartoon. However, in reality, it's definitely something of a hybrid.

MP-29+ is about half way between the toy and the original MP-29

 

I love the original release, but I like the darker colors on the MP-29+ Also.

Do I need to double dip on this mould, just for the darker colors? Decisions.

 

I know - I never really double dip, but I really love the first version, but also love this darker version. Then again, if they ever come out with a Soundwave 2.0 in more accurate toon colors, I’d probably get him along with my first version, lol.

 

I have the first figure and I like this new one. But it is pricey.

Agreed, he should've also had better range at the elbows. The figure presents well enough as Shockwave, but certainly don't need two of him.

 

Seems a little bit expensive to me, not going to lie, plus the range is a minus. I like the overall look and color though for sure.

 

I wish he has ratchets for the legs outward movement...  

 

I don't really care which is more or less toy or toon accurate, just which looks better on the shelf and invokes that character of Shockwave for me. The long and the short of it is MP-29+ looks gorgeous in that deep glossy purple and looks and feels like the cold caulculated one eyed Decepticon leader in waiting I know and love. I wasn't happy with the colour of MP-29 at all, this version however...beautiful.

 

I have to admit that even though I skipped MP-29 and am perfectly happy with both of my current versions of Shockwave (grey FT and the regular C9), there's a pretty good chance that I will pick this up eventually. It's very pretty, and looks like a fun unit to handle. Can't have too many Shockwaves, I guess.  

 

See, rewatching my DVDs and esp the Movie on Bluray, Shock/Laserwve was never that light on screen. I know there's the hue/contrast or whatever the specific name is so maybe that was it?

Call it Mandela Effect or whatever, but the Laserwave on the left was never my toon colored one. I'd say if MP29+ was a tad lighter that'd be perfect for me.

Glad I have him but he's A LOT looser than my MP 29. Especially around the hips as he tends to flop back a more.

You can bend Shockwave's elbow deeper for a closer salute by clicking the elbow on his right arm (it has three positions)

What do you mean by lot looser? do the ratchet joints of the Hip not as strong as the older one?
