There's cartoon accurate as in trying to look as much like the animation cells as possible, and cartoon accurate as in accurate to what the cartoon was trying to portray. I'm not going to tell anyone that they're wrong for wanting the former, but I am going to tell you the latter looks better.

Yes that’s what I meant. I thought they messed up and designed it with that weird projection but it was just mistransformed in the picture.

 

I know this may be a weird thing to mention, but has MS disclosed that his mouthplate moves like MP-01? I mean its not a dealbreaker if he doesn't have that feature, but it would be nice to have.

 

What he means is that the knee is double jointed, in the first pic (Iron Man pose) it is using both joints, but in the 2nd pic from the video it is only using the lower knee joint. It looks cleaner that way but has significantly less range of motion. Look at the knee you didn't circle in the video still.

 

Right, I thought they went back and redesigned the knee joint. The new video shows that it is the same design but it was just a mistransformation promo picture and that the knee doesn’t have to have a weird projection when bent.

 

lol i think people keep replying to you becuase you use the word "mistransformation" the toys isnt mistransformed,its just posed differently. kind of like if a figure has double jointed elbows and you use just the top joint to move the arm and not both. its actually transformed the same way. -no offense meant. just trying to clear up what people are saying

I agree. If it were accurate to what the toon was trying to portray OP would have chrome thighs and crotch, in addition to the smoke stacks, grill, and fuel tanks. The face, head crest, and stripes should also be silver instead of flat grey imo. That said, I'm not super bothered with the choices MS made, though I'm tempted to do some custom paint once I get it.

 

‘Looks better’ is subjective

I’ve been wanting a Prime with white or light grey thighs because I like the way it looks, I don’t even care if it’s cartoon style or Cybertronian or what. Now I have multiple Primes to choose from. TFC ST Commander has white thighs and I love him. Color me happy.

 

G1 Animation Optimus Prime was a red, white, and blue semi truck who spoke like John Wayne. There has never been, nor will there ever be, a more American hero.

This looks too good to be coming out in March. I know theres the debate on the windows showing the matrix, but look at that! We are so close to achieving a great Prime that it's a tease to see more color shots.
