    I really don't.

Instead of crappy molds that lack paint in the west and still crappy molds with better paint in Japan we're now getting much more solid looking figures with acceptable paintjobs around the world.

The unity between Hasbro and Takara clearly changed Transformers toys for the better IMO. And Takara can still make unique exclusives like these all they want, so the best part about Legends is still alive and well.

also take into account that as of power of the primes hasbro exclusives also improved drastically in my opinion. punch/counterpunch is one of my favorite figures in years

Hasbro did effectively take control of main line Transformers production.

not really, they more appropriately entered into a mutually beneficial agreement in which takara is spending less money on retooling molds and extra production runs for different decos and just using the same production runs as hasbro, and hasbro isnt having to compete with takara for collector dollars. neither "took" control of anything considering they are partners at the development level. hasbro may own the brand, but takara does a lot of the design and mold work

What you just described is Hasbro effectively controlling what the main line product looks like

Exactly. People keep having this fantasy that Hasbro is holding down Takara when the reality is TFs are niche in Japan and this was a move to keep the brand alive.

yes, but its not the grand conspiracy theory people on these boards make it out to be. hasbro didnt force takara to do anything (evidenced by the continued existence of lg-ex) and they didnt "take" control but were moreso given control. it may be semantics, but there is a big difference

They already effectively controlled the main line Transformers production. Takara has chosen to release the same items as Hasbro, likely in order to cut costs and therefore lower prices - as has been stated numerous times, TFs are more of a niche market (rather than mainstream) in Japan. They still make "different" items to provide for their -EX lines.

I think I may wait and see some reviews after he's released at this point.

A few months since the intial announcement has dwindled my impulsivity. lol :p

Those hollow calves are really poking at me whereas before I didn't give it too much thought. o_O

Still have mine on pre-order with BBTS and looks like they are expecting it to arrive in April still.
