Agreed. They have bern badly dealt with evet since Spotlight OP which made it clear they were unwilling victims of Jhiaxus' experiments, cybertron's best artists and scidntists merged to an unholy abomination. Even Optimus took pity on them.

    I agree.
And when they first announced this series / end of IDW TF-verse it very much said to me we'll get rushed storytelling (after the more considered pace of previous stories) as Hasbro becomes more hands on and more of their brand unification/streamlining BS.
At least we got something rather than nothing. How many interesting comics over the years were canned overnight with no resolution whatsoever, or stuffing a years worth tie ups of story into a single issue?
    Too damn many.

Could be wrong, but I took the focus on Victorion to be that they are Zealots, from a religious world /mythic-magic society in contrast ........... none of the other G1 Combiners are from that world, neither are they religious as far as we know.
so that contrast/juxtaposition creates this constant plot tension with Optimus as the returned "Prime" and the overall theme of the Cybertronian history and beliefs.

I don't see that tension/plot point existing with a focus on the "other" combiners.
So the biggest criticism I could level at Victorion, would be the over use of those characters as plot devices, and very little actual character development.

Also, when Pyra started being openly critical of Optimus, I saw that not only as the subversion of her previously lifelong beliefs, (due to all the events the clearly contradicted their way of life and traditions) but the realization that she perhaps craved power herself (to become a prime/leader etc).

With all the titles ending, does anyone else feel cheated that Megatron was gone for months (our time) (years = his time) in the Functionist Universe, and he makes all of a cameo when he was back, then basically not mentioned again?
So many ships and stuff floating about, I assume he died in one of them. Too damn confusing to follow.
Man, I'd love even a mini-series of megs in that universe. Won't ever happen now.

Can't say I focus my reading time on captions on wikis.
I won't to be sarcastic here and have one of those memes "wiki-ing.... you're doing it wrong" with a picture of your cat writing captions or whatever.

I mean.... for anyone that doesn't like them - 1. read the articles..... 2.don't read the captions. Problem solved. Do I get a noprize?

Or as you said, change em
Please tune in next for another exciting episode of "Imaginary Problems with Simple Solutions".

If 'staches are out this season, NOBODY tell this guy.

Depends on which Grievous, old Clone Wars one was badass, movie and new Clone Wars one was a ridiculous wuss.
No idea who Nihilus was. Guess some Sith lord who had the same great imagination for names as Plagueis? Was there a Darth Deathius too? :p

It just hit me that when Starscream ruled Cybertron, despite everything, it still kept being in one piece. But Windblade became ruler, it got eaten by Unicron. I know it was unintentional, but I still find that amusing.

All Darths have dumb names. Nihilus isn't any dumber than Sidious, Maul, Tyranus, (In)Vader (Zim), or Bane.

Nihilus was a tritagonist of Star Wars: The Old Republic II and probably one of the better plot devices that ever came out of Star Wars. The game was made by Obsidian. If you've ever played any of their games, they have some of the most story rich gameplay there is without trying to ram it down your gullet. Doofy name aside, Nihilus was framed fantastically and seated well within the lore of Star Wars and part of one of the philosophically complex games that ever came out of the 00's.

In my opinion, if IDW had been half as good as Obsidian's writing team, we'd have a hell of a lot fewer complaints.

Whelp, finally read all this thanks to the IDW sale. It read surprisingly well. It’s cheesy and melodramatic but st the end, that’s always a good way to go.

    God.
This was such a disappointment while it could have been so great.
They could have made a great story, instead, they made exactly the empty, meaningless speechifying nonsense around the same fan favs as I feared they would.
I was dreading reading this so much, and now that I did, I was right to dread it.
Dear John Barber, someday you will learn that, in truth, we are very much defined by our hopes, not our actions.
And that is why you failed everyone who loves this franchise with how you handled it.

    The whole trilogy? Nope.
Armada's last 13 episodes, "The Unicron Battles"? Right on.

Really? Everyone? You sure? Because I love this franchise too, and I like this ending for IDWverse, just like I liked a lot of other comics written by Barber.

Ah, I guess because it didn't come with an alternate "happy ending" and had an actual consistent tone that means it was a bad ending.

Yup, Unicron was a fantastic finale story. Great blend of plot and emotion, and a culmination of all the character and thematic arcs that Barber's been working on for years. Easily a candidate for one of the best-ever Unicron stories, precisely because it threw all the standard Unicron tropes out the window.

It's a far cry from the Lost Light finale, which was so rushed that it basically felt like an emotionless, bullet-pointed list of plot reveals, with a totally arbitrary monster threat that had no meaning to the plot or the characters other than providing a mandatory 'final boss'.

I think that’s a fair statement on LL. My thoughts on the reasons behind that is just that JRo had so many planes in the air and he had to land them all
    At once :/

It was good closure to the entire universe. Definite wrap up on this entire war and post war mess showing that there's hope for the future of all those characters.

You're not everyone nor you speak for everyone.

Philosophically I have to say that I feel exactly the opposite. People to me are far *more* defined by actions than their "hopes".

100% agree. Growing up, it was repeatedly drilled into my brain that your intent doesn't matter to anyone but you. "What you do makes who you are" was my dad's mantra and at least for me it's been true.

We define ourselves by our hopes and dreams. Almost nobody else does. Nobody else cares, because unless those hopes and dreams are backed up by actions, they don't matter.

Narratively speaking, a character's hopes and dreams may help make them identifiable, but there's a break in realism when those dreams and hopes don't coincide with their actions. If supporting characters keep tossing main characters mulligans for repeated failure or inaction based on hopes and wishes, it's called bad writing.

I think people are missing that that like was delivered by Prowl, and is kind of a spin on the similar line from Batman Begins

Yeah, whether you agree with it or not, the point of that line is that Prowl has come to realize that he will never be vindicated for the monstrous shit he did just because of good intentions.
