Soundwave sounds pissed. Still love Blitzwing\'s voice too, and even Angela Basset is nailing it. Alot of demanding presence in her voice , sounds appropriate for a femcon.

I know you've already gotten hell for this post from everyone but I just want to contribute my thoughts. Try to read my words without any condescending tones, I'm not trying to berate you or anything. It's just that you're mistaking friendship and emotional development for "preschool baby bullshit." I used to be of the mindset where I wanted all interpretations of characters and stories I watched to be dark and gritty, serious, ya know. But I was definitely a sadder person back then. I've come to find friendship and emotional development to be a very therapeutic aspect to film and tv now. It makes me happy when characters I like are happy or having fun because it's a change of pace from the strife they face in the rest of their film. It's just too depressing for myself if they're only getting the shit beat out of them all time and the only relief from that is for them to turn the tide and do the beating. There needs to be some contrast from the war so you can see the value in what the hero is fighting for. These cuter, happier scenes are probably much more helpful at combatting peoples depression than the battle scenes, and they don't take up the whole movie. There will still be war scenes that you'll enjoy, you just need to be patient. And I know you hate Bumblebee as a character but unfortunately this movie was always going to be about him. When Paramounts deal with China fell through and the Last Knight flopped, Paramount had to go to Hasbro for more money to finish this film which was already in production. Hasbro footed the bill under the condition they have creative control and final say on the film. That's why there's all this g1 goodness in a movie in the first place. Otherwise this was supposed to just be a prequel to TF1. So really, you should at least be somewhat grateful that the g1 stuff is in there because if Paramount didn't need Hasbro's money it probably wouldn't be there much at all. Kudos

Is it me or does Blitzwing show more emotion in this shot than that of 88% of all Bayformers?

Much as I enjoyed hearing Soundwave\'s voice , this is the first time I have regretted watching a Bumblebee trailer ....

.... note to self - take heed of the spoiler warnings ;(

As much as I defend the first film, this is the movie we should’ve gotten 11 years ago. Anyone who can’t look at this movie and not see the utter awesome is a savage and an idiot.

that one guy calling things baby bullshit is a bit of an exaggeration but i tend to agree to a certain extent.. but movies are not here to cure your depression and this is a franchise ultimately aimed for kids like c\'mon.

it could be worse it could be all pixar CG or some art style CG and not even look real.. like prime >.>

i am just also displeased with a light hearted focus.. i just really hope they push it with darker tones and robot violence and some character deaths at least. something a tad hardcore. i dont wanna just see a live action version of the calibur of kids shows from today cuz those are suuuuper light hearted compared to older shows we grew up loving.. like some parts of beast wars and reboot i found more hardcore than a lot of kids shows trhese days like theyre just not allowed to have more scary or serious or as much character death overtones.

i dont think it looks that bad but if it has to fallow the tropes of current kids shows its not gonna be quite as edgy as the shows we used to enjoy.. like not only is there probably not much there to enjoy for adults it may actually be even less serious feeling than some kids shows we used to love it goes the route of strictly for kids of today. i dont think thats gonna happen i think we can expect a PG 13ish story if we\'re lucky but wont be surprised if the movie will still safely stay in the PG range

if its too light hearted but also with G1 out the ass i would say they are kind of desperately double dipping.. kids dont give a shit about toys like they used to i feel like trying to make the movie for them or a \"fun for the whole family\" deal is probably not the auidence most passion for transformers has come from in recent decades. it might be missing the wider aged audience transformers has and hoping to maintain relevance with a younger auidence that is barely paying attention anymore. if the story is mostly for kids and doesnt have much for adults and the visuals and characters are from G1 i would be kind of afraid its trying to be 2 things without being either one all that well

ultimately, transformers came from toys and i would have to accept that the big box office movie is going to have to cater to the largest and most focussed crowd for robot toys so that is probably gonna be a really soft PG 13 at the most but mainly PG and generally made for kids

I dont care about any character balancing friendship crap honestly the whole movie could have the thinnest plot and all fhighting and i would be happy >.> but thats because ive been watching transformers shows and movies long enough I know i am just kind of watching stuff for kids waiting for the lame parts to be over just to see the few bits i actually enjoy as an adult

of course i would be more happy with a gritty dark violent hardcore war movie but thats just not gonna happen with transformers in much other than comics like the end of the day we are passionate about toys here and of course i would love adult theme narrative but this isn\'t an adult theme fandom by any means. we\'re not getting CGI robot saving private ryan despite how many of us older fans would tottaly love it

i personally would prefer mostly all CGI movie that takes place completely on cybertron or in space with as few pitiful flesh creatures as possible. I would love it. but thats me after 20 years of seeing many versions of kids shows rehash the same themes and i am honestly not that surprised a big box office movie wants to appeal to kids ultimately

we cant expect transformers to grow up with us that much if we really want it to appeal to new younger audiences like it used to appeal to us back in the day. if its not gonna be for us i just hope kids of today can enjoy what we used to love about that kind of fiction. i just hope it doesnt try hard for an auidence that isnt even there instead of catering to auidence that is.

The idea that a movie needs to be “DERK N GRITTY” to be “adult,” or that themes about friendship are “boring” is the most juvenile shit I’ve ever fucking heard. Well...y’know...save for being well over 16 and pitching a goddamn tantrum because your ideal vision for a fictional property isn’t being realized.

I'm probably said this too many times, but let me say it again: The Incredibles (2004) is one of the best example of film that can be both mature and kid friendly at the same time.
Most of the time, stuff that dark & violent could easily fall into something that edgy & juvenile.

That's not what he's looking for. He truly wants buckets of blood, humans getting squished and characters dying horrible deaths 'cuz war.
That's not what Transformers is solely about. It starts with a war but becomes so much more. Building bridges between races, being heroes to those in need, bringing families back together, making friends and seeing things the world had never seen before. Yeah, there's a war going on, sometimes it's ugly, but there was inherently more hope than hopelessness in the whole franchise, it was always about change and changing from one form to the next and becoming better with that change.

War and violence and murder are not the end all, be all of Transformers and if anyone sees only that part of it, or wishes, to, well I recommend perhaps taking a break from TFs for a while and perhaps seeking some help because life can be hard and have some horrible times, but it also has some great moments and let's call them "miracles" and moments of joy and hope.

Good vs evil, PSAs, Optimus doing the right thing because he wanted to, not because he was guilted into it by some human compatriot. These were real heroes to us, they made us want to be better, they made us want to be someone else's hero. Yes, of course, they were a commercial to sell toys, but they had a lot of good to them, not a bunch of hatred and violence and evil.

Those are the Transformers we grew up on. Those are the Transformers Peter Cullen helped bring to life in honor of his brother who was his hero. If your Transformers are anything but those, they shouldn't be anyone's Transformers, then. Bay, Orci, and Kurtzman have damaged an entire generation of fans with filth, violence, and ignorance and the fans just want more and more of it so when something comes along that takes us back to the roots of it all, they whine and complain and want their torture porn fetish fed, and it makes fans like me (and the rest of humanity) sad.

Transformers is for kids, we're just along for the ride, enjoy it.

I hope those cybertron shots are still in pre-viz status, because they look terrible. As in, not very high quality lighting, sort of decent (but not great) video game quality but a far stretch from what we expect from a AAA movie, or even from the other earth shots in the film.

"Those are the Transformers we grew up on."

The 86 animated movie had plenty of violence and darkness in it, enough to form a legion of "you can't kill Optimus!" complaints. I wouldn't mind a little more of that sense of urgency and not knowing if a character will live or die.
