Cool cars that turned into cool battle vehicles. Young me loved that stuff. Old me does too.

I would support new MASK toys, if they are done right with a big nostalgic touch.

For me it was the licensed cars and cool, fairly articulated mini figures. Plus they transformed!!! And Boulder Hill was one of the best “base toys” of the 80s

That said, MASK really seems to me to be the easiest sell as a movie: it’s 2 parts Fast and the Furious, 1 part Transformers with a dash of The Avengers (via the “super powers” the MASKs provide). Get a solid script (obviously as Transformer fans we know that is easier said then done) and a director like James Wan and A bunch of sweet vehicles and it just seems like a license to print money.

It also fits nicely into a Hasbro Cinematic Universe with GI Joe and Transformers.

Yeah, if you are going that rout it makes a really nice bridge between the franchises. You could envision the team making the MASK vehicles creating GIJoes and VENOM being an offshoot or division (or rival) of Cobra.

Man, it's not just Hasbro; it's most forms of entertainment. Remake something 35 to 45 year olds will drag their kids to... much easier than coming up with something new. Endless remakes, reboots and sequels.

While I see the $$$ potential, I also see it as laziness. Theres no shortage of new characters and franchises being created for video games. But when it comes to movies and cartoons with accompanying toylines, its just the same old s**t rebooted over and over again. Sometimes I look at the other toys besides transformers just for s**t and giggles. I was horrified to see how they make TMNT look now. So goofy. And then theres Batman. How many times can they tell the same story over and over again with new actors, slightly different costumes, and a new take on the Batmobile. Getting boring already. At least with robots you can make radical changes to aesthetic and make it seem new. Human characters not so much...

...i'd rather see jem than micronauts, rom, or MASK...

...what modern incarnations tend to miss is that g.i. joe (ARAH) was, at its absolute best, a stunningly well-developed accessory/vehicle/playset line, one which also happened to include super-articulated and detailed figures just to complement those amazing accessories/vehicles/playsets...

...combine that with top-notch marvel-penned characters, settings, and stories, and you've got a real stew going, but lose any one of those elements (the core accessories/vehicles/playsets, the best-in-class figure articulation/detailing, or the top-notch characters/settings/stories) and the potion goes flat...

Sure, because we all know that stuff like Call of Duty never sells because of that, too. ...oh wait, yes it does.

...where did this come from? While I most certainly agree here, and just to tab my toes into a teeny bit of politics, I'm part of the LGBT community and I always bring up issues and talk with friends and those I can trust to spread awareness of issues and problems that we face and how people can help. But that's something I do as part of my day life.

But when I play a video game, or watch TV, or movies, or whatever, that's escapism for me. So I don't understand what you're trying to get. I'm not trying to watch GI Joe because I'm appealing to jingoism, but rather I'm doing it because I think a crack team of special operatives can go around and kick a ton of ass in super hero fashion. I don't participate in entertainment to emulate the things I do in real life...I participate in entertainment to GET AWAY from that stuff. GI Joe, military, military history, and even the more military aspects of Transformers are things that appeal to me, hence why if any GI Joe movie isn't going to be military based, I'm simply not interested in it.

When you make 6-figures, you can afford a ton of hair implants, plastic surgery, etc.! ;)  Certainly, his hair is several decades younger than he is!

I'm surprised you can say all of that without complaining about Jar Jar Binks!

Cause to quote George Lucas: it's not for you! :lol

They remake these stories because, believe it or not, new children are born every day! :D  And these new kids don't find the "old" stories boring, in the way you did not find the story of Santa Claus to be boring when you were a child. Same boring, old story, recycled into new movies every year... why? Because Santa Claus is a commercially successful story, and you don't need to re-invent the wheel every year to make money! You re-brand, re-paint, re-market that old wheel! ;)

Look, there's a reason you don't enjoy these things anymore. It's a pretty common condition that people develop as they get older. Let's just let South Park do the diagnoses:

Also, video games are NOT original. They keep rehashing the same stories, making sequel after sequel after sequel. What's new about Red Dead Revolver 2? Oh, it's online (MMO)! That's a "new story" then? :lol

    Fortnite's "Raptor" ______________vs. ___________G.I. Joe's Beach head
    fortnite raptor.jpg _____________________ fortnite beach head.jpg
Uh oh! Did video games forget they're the last bastion of originality????  :lol

While I understand your argument, I cant agree with all of it. You asked why I didnt mention star wars (jar jar) Well thats because star wars has never been rebooted. They are adding parts to the story....prequels, sequels, gap fillers, and I like that. Just keep the story going. But thats not even my point. At one time all these 80s franchises were brand new. I think its about time for some new franchises. And yes they do it in video games. Sure its the same old story format, but new characters. I dont know why Hasbro is so scared to invest in something truly new. They are so scared to leave their comfort zone. Bot bots is the perfect example. They had to put them under the Transformers umbrella. They had to give them a Transformers themed fiction that somehow involved contact with energon or something similar to the kitchen bots in Bayverse. Would it have been that hard to market them on their own without trying to persuade Transformers fans to buy in ? Its sad they limit their creative potential.

Call of Duty doesn't really portray soldiers in the best way.
