I've found new images for the Gobots comic: TOM SCIOLI Transforms the GO-BOTS #1 Preview Feel free to judge. I ain't the one making the comic.
I picked up and read IDW Go-Bots # 1 this week. I think it is off to a great start. The story is not as crazy a GI Joe vs Transformers so far. It is a great modern take on introducing Go-Bots in comic book form. While the art style is not my favorite, being able to read a new Go-Bots story and seeing the toys illustrated in a new comic is clicking with this Go-Bot fan. Thumbs up for me!
Gobot grail achieved! Finally found a Rock Roller in almost perfect condition and for a reasonable price. I always suspected he would be my favorite Rock Lord and he did not disappoint. That may be one of my favorite head sculpts ever.
Now this guy is a beauty. Speaking of Bandai,I'm really disappointed that after Chronos, not many villain toys in the line-up...even for Gurendos and Disaster. So I think another re-deco and repaint of an existing Bandai mold I can imagine could work just so the Battlehackers or Machine Robos can fight. For example...I give you Black and Red Raideen: (17:23) Yup,another shit from Joseph Lai but hey, this bootleg anime gave him a ton of weapons at his disposal. Also,he's 300 m. Another idea for a Machine Robo villain is from Chouja Raideen: Wow...can't believe I talked about this stupid anime that RUINED a legacy anime like Yushaa Raideen because IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ORIGINAL Raideen whatsoever. See for yourself. If the idea seems farfetched, there's even these mini-Raideen guys that would look like Cronos ppl if they were frankensteined with Raideen's parts: The show is called Raideen the Superior/Chouja Raideen and lemme tell you this...this is ANYTHING but superior to the classic Raideen. It is beyond shit. God Raideen himself...is a villain. That's sad. This is basically a perfect example of what NOT to do with a reboot like everything else if ppl have probs with reboots. Though to be fair, repainting and redecoing these guys: Would be making sense since most of what Gyandlar and Gurendos have are enemies from the skies like the Uwappas: I'm surprised they never made any grunts for Gyandlar and Gurendos so the "Raideens" or the devil-birds as I call them can be pretty much the elite soldiers like Cyclonus and Scourge's Sweeps and Armada. So what you guys think of this idea? Is it a crazy idea or one that doesn't make any sense? There were 10 Raideen warriors in the show, the robot of the show is a villain and has two forms so making them all villains to the Machine Robos would be a great idea because Leina Stol Wolf Sword Legend gave ideas on human and organics being the next step of evolution in the MR biology.
Who would have thought we saw what happened when Mazinger had sex with a Gundam, and flew around in a space train with characters from Yamato... Just Wow!
Believe me,these "animators" HAVE NO CLUE WHAT they were doing. Also, that Black and Red Raideen caught my attention and I thought it would be GREAT for a villain toy. It's got light sabers,a mace and a hook,a rifle from RX 78-2,two wrist spike things from Chun-li and Daltanious and is 300m tall and weighs over 3000 tons. It has the ability to "rejuvenate" which I don't understand what it should. I'm guessing its energy tank but yeah. This thing is awesome. I really do hope Bandai would continue to make a sequel series to Battlehackers and implement my ideas for these Raideens being villains. He also a 4 mill. Kilo Megawatts of power according to the Cobra Commander wanna-be. -_- I don't even.. Now for this dude..well...he certainly is a planet-buster I would say. I don't mind mixing footage with the BH and Chouja Raideen second openings so Mach Blaster,Pro Truck Racer and R.Jettan can blast at God Raideen and place God Raideen alongside the Gurendos. As for the Raideen warriors...take one good look at it. 真昼野 on Twitter And tell yourself if it has anything to do with Raideen the original from 1970 whatever. I highly doubt that it barely represents the original anime: Yeah, the armor looks really great with these Raideen warriors but it all comes to down to this statement 'Style over substance'. Ppl often claim this show to be like Tekkaman Blade and Jetman and Gatchaman but the difference is that those 3 shows were really dark and had moments of defeat where the main characters lose something but this show...its focus is really that bad. It tries to imitate Carranger and Megaranger without even realizing what its meant to be,just to entertain the chicks. Yeah, you can't just sacrifice what makes Raideen what it is and just twist it around for the sake of modernizing it. -_- The whole anime makes a big deal on destiny and these "boys" being deep and something. Even the action is subpar compared to what we got like Shin Cutey Honey,Tekkaman Blade,Dragonball Z and Gatchaman. Those were in the same era as Chouja Raideen and they can't even make single fight scenes of armored heroes look good? C'mon, this is Sunrise...dammit. They worked on G Gundam which had human fights and that was good. What happened here? -_- Yeah, this show doesn't take itself srsly or anything. It's just...urgh. So much hatred for this show,I really don't wanna talk about this longer and if I had to,I'll make a review in the future if I wanted to. I just want to talk about how its toyline could be pretty cool and dynamic for the Machine Robo toyline and that it can allow for some story elements since Leina Stol gave ideas: If the birds' design don't work in the MR aesthetic, they could always remold them in the more traditional Devil Invaders look they have for the Raideen Warriors.
I want a Rock Lords revival so bad lol. Probably the one nostalgia cash grab that will never happen, but I want them to do it lol.
Why not? Ancient history can be something. Voltron Legendary Defender and some Mythbusters-like shows proved to be quite popular. As well as God of War. Though there was one character that looked like Dia-man/Solitaire in Power Rangers Mystic Force:
Anything's possible. I can dream. It just feels like Rock Lords has about the same odds of coming back as Captain Power.
Yeah, I'm not particularly a fan of how it got sidetracked into a general fanpost for old stuff. That's the danger with having a vague thread title in the original post, I suppose. Of course, it was less vague in the context of sitting in the 3rd party toys forum, and so as a result there's not a separate thread for news on these figures. :/
And to be honest..I'm really getting tired of the wait. I could talk about MR as much but then again, its not fun if the REAL cheese and crackers aren't available for purchase. Blue Jet again...has been hinted at since the beginning and we STILL GET NOTHING!!
I still would really love an update of Diaman/Solitaire. Preferably two updates, one for the male MR design and one for the female Gobots one.
What really will freak you out is when you realize Rock Roller shares his basic transformation scheme with G1 Optimus Prime! Biography: From the planet Quartex come Shock Rocks! Introducing three heroic warriors helping boulder defend against the enemy... Rock Roller: Revved up and ready to roll. He appeared on a French VHS cover once, even though he wasn't in the story, which was just a Revenge of Cronos episode dub.
Still looking forward to that Tough Trailer: And his badass brother: I still find it compelling that his vehicle mode: Is based on the Battlehackers opening. Cool,eh? Also, model kits of MR need to come back: Did anyone mention about them? Anyone? And to end a note, would anyone be ok if I can make a separate topic on Machine Robo storylines between the original OG MR vs Devil Invaders,Revenge of Cronos and Battlehackers including MR Rescue all in its separate topic because it is a looooong epic that not even TF fans could wrap their heads around? XD Well, someone could start by writing about how the Revenge of Cronos storyline went and I can follow up with Battlehackers.
