This was an issue in all of the pastiche of flashback paintings and photos in TLK.

The photos were only briefly onscreen for a couple of seconds, so they probably didn't deem it necessary to create new models for an insignificant thing. It was more important for the character to be recognizable, than to be appropriately detailed.

He was never onscreen in that alt-mode, no. As shown in number of the previous posts, it's something insinuated by The Last Knight, with an old photograph of Starscream standing over a squadron of WW1-era planes.

Considering he always transforms into the most high tech fighter plane of the time, I think its safe to say that would be his alt-mode in the WWI era.

I like the way this looks. I find it interesting that it comes with the original movie Starscream Head with what looks like an oxygen mask piece for it and BB Blitzwing Head.

That's exactly what I said. It's insinuated by the photograph, but he never actually transforms on screen.

I hear you. But 9 out of 10 times the word "insinuated" is used, it usually means that the user doesnt believe the thing being insinuated. A better sounding word would be "suggests". Not trying to be a d**k, just saying....

While it's likely based on the Blitzwing head it works as a duel homage to the Thundercracker/G1 Target versions of the Movie one Starscream mold which I think it also matches pretty well.

I think the proper word in this context would be "implied" but "suggested probably works just as well.

I think this design fits incredibly well for Starscream given the fact that he most certainly would have turned into a WWI fighter plane at that point in time. The whole oxygen mask bit is pretty cool too, I prefer that design much more over the monstrosity that was his head design in the films prior.. I can\'t wait to see this in full colour!

As a WWI buff this instantly caught my eye. Very cool Alt mode! Then my heart broke when I saw the movie style bot-mode. Oh well. No thanks.

WOW, I only wish the chest panels were a more flat design to clean up the bottom of that incredible plane mode. I think guns pegged into his hands in plane mode would be icing on the cake.

I know they prioritized robot scale, but there is no way a Fokker Dr1 would be that big compared to a WW2 era Mercedes staff car. Oh well, I'm a sucker for historical alt modes, so toyworld wins this round.

I don't think the scale is that far off.
from what I can tell from a few googled photos the top of the car's windshield should be at shoulder level, while the center of the plane's propeller should be just above eye level.
as for length: the car(in real life) would probably be about 4.4 meters long, while the plane is 5.77 meters long.

while there are mercedes staff cars that are longer than a fokker dr1, they're 8 seaters.
bumblebee looks to be a 4 seater.

as I couldn't find the exact model of car bumblebee is supposed to be I based my estimates on a similar model.

Ok, related question to my previous one----I know TLK is partly set/flashback to WWII------did they do such a half-assed un-researched job, that this was actually intended to be a flashback showing WWII Starscream, but they mistakenly used WWI planes instead? Did a blunderbuss show up at the Battle of Britain? Maybe horse-drawn carriages liberating Paris?

Or were there also WWI flashbacks in addition to WWII?

I treat this as a "what if?" one off. I wouldn't think of this as directly connected to the movies at all. Plus he looks different (and way better) than what ended up in the film.
HE'S A BUILD A FIGURE??? FUCK NO! I'm very unhappy about this since I didn't plan on getting any of the other releases (except MAYBE BB if they fix the head). Not happy at all about this. They probably cut the number of people who will get this in half. Then in half again.
I wouldn't see any of them as canon. They're too poorly thought out.
Is there much care put into ANY of the concepts and ideas in the movies? Especially TLK? The first trilogy are the ones I consider canon, and even then if they retconned the stuff with the primes and the matrix from rotf I'd be totally OK with that.
