The resistors are there because Red LEDs operate at around 2V and will burn out with the equipped 3V battery source.

Blue LEDs, on the other hand operate at a higher voltage and will appear very dim with the resistors in the circuit.

Here's a simple color LED voltage chart below. Hope that helps!

Got it, thanks. I'm guessing SMD ones are a bit more sensitive to input voltage? (I've seen plenty of cheap toys etc use 3V with red with no resistors, and they don't seem to burn out any faster)

Mine looks identical to this in photos, but catches the light nicely at times in person.

Personally I don't give a damn about heft (heavy =/= quality; light=/= lack of quality) but in this case I actually hope he isn't very heavy since he needs to form the top part of a combiner. Probably won't matter too much though - by all accounts his lynx legs are pretty sturdy.

Is the chrome head a limited time thing? I just got mine which I ordered from eBay (seller is eastcoastoys4life) and it is nowhere to be found in the box.

Anybody else get gnarly stressmarks on the hooks that lock Magna’s red leg sections together in carrier mode? I used to hairdryer to fade them back out, but I am kind of bummed that I’m not able to transform him without progressively breaking him.

That's been reported before, usually a case of attempting to pull the legs sections apart, rather than just gently nudging them apart sideways. I was vaguely aware of this step ahead of time, so I've had no issues.

I think this was brought up in some reviews, if I remember, they came that way for some people. If you haven't already started doing it, make sure to push the knees of the back legs inward to release those hooks, at least it helps stop stress when separating them…but stress may be put on them just being held together…not sure
