I’m always surprised and disappointed how rarely the battlechargers get done. They’re definitely favourites of mine.

Vehicle mode veers towards being too busy, but it looks really cool just the same. Though, I still feel like it’s a missed opportunity to not play with the name of every brand so that they’re all jokes and puns.

Still, I think I’ll go with Iron Factory for Wheeljack proper. IFjack should be better engineered & proportioned, alongside a more updated styling.

In the meantime, I’ll probably buy TW’s Exhaust on the presumption that IF isn’t likely to do their own Exhaust anytime soon.

But, if IF did, it would be pretty wild of Iron Factory to keep the layout of a pack of Marlboros while replacing all the text with “Cybertronian.” That might even reach a wider audience than fans who enjoy a fun novelty figure.

The Lancia Stratos is more well known, and more successful, at Rally racing. I think that's why they put the tread on the tires.

It had great success at actual rally racing.
Lancia wanted to move it up to GT racing, this is where you would see the slick tires. Lancia added the big wing, front spoiler, and body extensions to compete better in GT. These mods are seen on Wheeljack.
(They also added a huge turbo and bumped power up to 400+, then 500+)
It was not very good at road racing with the short wheelbase and overheating problems (see the fire).

Even after the GT mods, they still ran a few Road Rallies, and it did well because of it's Rally roots.

Yeah, I remember someone teased MP Runabout and Runamuck. Nothing since then. I'd prefer accurate Lotus Esprit and Pontiac Firebird MP sized versions. Failing that, we could get the IDW MP 4th Gen Camaro versions.
For Legends size, just give me some badass made up supercar versions.

I think those are from the game Transformers Devastation? Don't know for sure, but they had generic car Decepticons of different color.

 

That is interesting. I do wish it had the gt tires for the gt trim though.

One thing i noticed. And this might be an example of what you are saying is toon WJ's pattern on his chest is different to the roof of the actual Lancia he is meant to be, it has more red than green. But the rally version with Alitalia deco mimics the toon deco more even though it is gt trim. There lots of variations of the deco but i was thinking it was curious thing the other day. Where the illustrators drew the design for WJ.

I might actually try make mine the toon pattern...
I am not sure this WJ will be my ever after WJ yet but if it is i could try do it.

 

Generally, just a couple of misfits mooks.

The Blue and Yellow Deco is from TF evastation, but I noticed them for the first time earlier this year when I started season 3 from the beginning and got through some of it, at least.

The Battlechargers first pop up in “Chaos,” which is pretty much just Kup going on the kind of crazy adventure that usually constitutes his tall tales, & this time in the land of the Chaos Emeralds death-crystals.

And, a little later, the duo appear again—and for the last time—in “Ghost in the Machine,” ineptly guarding Trypticon as a Starscream possessed Scourge gets busy on Unicron’s shopping list so that Unicron would be capable of possessing Cybertron as his new body.

So, alongside a Legends IDW Wipeout—I.E. with a similar body type to Pipes and Tailgate, I’d appreciate a lil futuristic Runabout & Runamuck to accompany MasterMade’s Trypticon.

It’s a car that looks like a pack of cigarettes and it’s smoking itself!  

And, the Alitalia or, to my eye, Sbarro Italiano Deco would be closer to an even more novelty version with “Mari-juana” or “Can-apa” writtten on their feet, with thx to Google Translate on the Italian for Cannabis.

But, I think it would need some more purple and orange to make it look like “Exhausted” or “Immobilizered” or “Scientist” or “King Jammy” competes in the Cannabis Cup!  

Bonus, include a Diaclone like trooper of the recently minted “Big Weed” lobbyist John Boehner, maybe with a little soft good cape as a kind of Phillip Morris’ pesticide laced hemp accessory.

Yeah, I’m going from ‘ok, maybe’ to actually pretty hyped for this guy (as wheeljack). Hope we see some more legends from them building on the feedback from this guy.
