Sorry, should have put that in the blog. Have updated it. The measurements are 19.5cm x 14cm

(Still waiting to hear back from the companies to see if I am allowed to post the entire review on here - fingers crossed)

I've been hearing a lot about this game from Vangelus on WTF and on his YouTube channel.

This game looks so fun and I would love to get into it except:
a.) I'm too poor and can't spend money on cardboard

    And
b.) I don't have anyone in my area to play with even if I did buy it.

This seriously looks like an amazing game and I hope it can stand the test of time and continue well into the future for all of you to enjoy!!

Just bought the starter set last night.

It's terrible. The quality control is abysmal, as per usual from WOTC. All my character cards were bent to hell out of the box (because of the terrible foiling). What an absolute waste of money. The packaging is cheap crap too.

This makes some of the worst-quality Magic cards look good... and that's not even remotely good. Now I don't even know if I want to touch the booster packs. I'll check with my LGS to see if it's just my set that was like this out of the box but I doubt it, considering WOTC's track record. And besides, that just means that, best case scenario, you get the cards unbent and they'll bend later because of how horrible the foiling process is on these cards (similar to MTG From the Vault's terrible foiling, I believe).

For shame, WOTC. I won't support this game in the slightest if the quality is this low.

And then we've got shit like Ultimate Masters and Guilds of Ravnica Mythic Edition, which just prove WOTC can't be trusted to make a good, well-built game.

Anyone in the Chicagoland area looking to get together to play? I run a comics shop in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago (Challengers Comics on Western Ave) and I was thinking about having an open play night on November 19th, after the Metroplex deck ships. It'd start at 7, and we'd have tables set up for folks to play and trade and whatever. I'm not going to do it if no one's going to come (that's what happened with a learn-to-play night we scheduled on the first set's release day), so if there's any interest, please message me. Thanks!

My starter pack had bent character cards too except for optimus. Must have just been the packaging on that set though because my ones from boosters have been fine. Luckily a slightly warped character card doesnt effect game play in the slightest.

My Optimus is the worst one of the lot, unfortunately.

The awful packaging doesn't help, I'm sure (it's honestly really flimsy and bad), but the foiling (specifically, the shrinkage of the foiling) is what causes the irreversible curling of the cards.

It shouldn't matter that it doesn't impact the game though - they're selling low-quality products and getting away with it because people keep buying these things. The ones that haven't curled yet will because of the bad foiling process.
It's inevitable, unfortunately, and WOTC is pretty much the only company who has a problem with this these days. There are plenty of small-time card games, both Japanese and otherwise, that have far better foiling on them.
Heck, the FNM promo and a couple of other Guilds of Ravnica foils I pulled last night are better quality, and that's from the same company.

The only good thing I can say about the Transformers cards (the Battle Cards, primarily) is that they're using slightly thicker card stock than the thin crap that Guilds has (because apparently Dominaria and Battlebond were too much of a step in the right direction for card quality). They still pale in comparison to my Force of Will, BuddyFight and Fire Emblem Cipher cards, which isn't a good thing. Even some of my older TCG cards (Digimon, Pokemon etc.) are better quality.

Please be aware that these card sleeves, deck boxes and binders specifically ONLY fit standard-size cards (e.g. the Transformers Battle Cards, Magic cards, Pokemon, etc.) and will NOT fit the oversized character cards.
Also, Ultra Pro art sleeves (except for their newer style, of which none of these are - these are regular art sleeves) are low quality, just like other art sleeves (they're made with three layers, one being for the art, which means they peel and fray easily).
So far, I believe the only good-quality art sleeves are the Dragon Shield art sleeves and Ultra Pro's new Guilds of Ravnica-themed art sleeves. Avoid the rest.
Ultra Pro and Ultimate Guard do make oversized sleeves, and I believe another company (BCW, I think) makes them too, but they're typically not as good as the more high-end sleeves on the market (Dragon Shield (Art) Mattes and Ultra Pro Eclipses tend to be the best standard-size sleeves these days, in case anyone is wondering - art variants of both are even better, though be aware that the Eclipse-style arts aren't labelled with the Eclipse branding - they're called "Chroma Fusion (Matte)").

If you want to find out more about card sleeves and their comparable quality, this playlist of reviews should be everyone's first reference:
MTG - What Are The Best Card Sleeves For Magic The Gathering - YouTube (he does other product reviews too, including deck boxes, play mats and binders, so be sure to check them out - oh, and Ultra Pro's current deck boxes suck, so don't buy them).
The latest four or so reviews should tell you all you need to know (though I recommend watching them all in order, if you have the time). There's a video for the oversized sleeves too but if the reports that the oversized Magic sleeves don't fit these cards, that doesn't help much. Why WOTC would change the sizes, I have no idea. I don't have any oversized Magic cards to compare at the moment, unfortunately.

I believe someone (maybe Ultra Pro) also makes some basic novelty sleeves for the oversized Pokemon cards, which I suspect are approximately the size of Metroplex, so if you can find those, they may work. Either way, I highly recommend getting these cards sleeved up to help prevent or at least slow down the foiling shrinkage/card curling.

Upon further inspection I do notice some curving/shrinking on ones from my booster packs. How does sleeving help prevent the shrinking foil? Does it have to be a certain kind of sleeve?

Hmm. I might check it out but I might not have a computer to run it. My laptop doesn't have a great graphics card and probably would have trouble running a Steam game. :(

@TCJJ I was disappointed with the quality of the character cards too. In addition to what you noticed, it seems the top layer is coming up at edges on some. Idk if I’m describing that right or not. Bottom line don’t shuffle the character cards. Get top loaders for the ones in your deck people. I haven’t played a Wotc game in 20 years so I didn’t know about their card stock problems.

It’s a fun game and I really hope they start getting behind it with organized play.

Guys, with Comic Con coming up, how should we promote the game? Demo decks with commons from the packs? Alternate art promos to hand out? No! An exclusive pack you have to pay for that doesn't even have a playset of the cards requiring you to buy three. What's that? Comic-Con exclusives are limit two per person? Sucks to be you. Go to eBay. The game isn't even out yet and there's no online rulebook. Our first priority should be to make limited and exclusive cards! It's all in this chart.

    1. Release convention-exclusive pack before the game comes out
    2. Game releases and people can't obtain the above pack
    3. ?????
    4. Profit!

Foil cards curving has something to do with exposure to hot temperatures and/or air. Sleeves aren't airtight, but they squeeze the card in place and while they won't prevent curving entirely, it helps.
