MP Transmetal Tarantulas is my holy grail. Fave design in BW. And a great character. I don’t know if that ever becomes real but it’s my #1 want from the line. Also love Rampage! Want most looks from season 2 since that was my favorite? No that’s just a bonus, I like those designs best in most cases. That’s why I’m passing on this Megs and waiting on a first Transmetal Megatron.

 

How does he scale size-wise to Dinobot in bot mode?

Transmetal Tarantulus' head goes to roughly the top of dinobot's chest. The legs extend to the top of Dinobot's head.

Transmetal Tarantulas one of the VERY few exceptions where I prefer a later body to that of the first season, I'd happy see them skip his Season 1 body and move straight onto the TM body as that is where the character really started to shine. I'd also like to see Rampage, TM Megatron etc etc however after PE's amazing takes on Optimal Optimus and TM2 Megatron I'm sort of hoping TT stick to series 1 and PE tackle more of the season 2-3 guys, I'm sure a PE Rampage would be AMAZING!

 

Transmetal Tarantulus, Megatron and Rattrap I really like the look of, particularly in robot mode for the latter two. Optimus and Cheetor didn't work as well for me.

 

I'm pretty much in the same boat, turning the organic/robotic thing on it head, although a fun idea, in many cases made for some aesthetically unappealing 'robot' modes for me. Megatron and Tarantulas came of great, both retained lots of recognisable features and were still visually very much those characters. Indeed both are arguably improvements on their season 1 bodies. For me the Maximals faired less well, Rattrap was the best of the three because he still looked like Rattrap and his robot mode wasn't overly organic looking, but Cheetor and Primal especially were so jarringly different it was hard to think of them as the same characters. Not to mention a Gorilla on a flying surfboard was just way too goofy for my taste.

 

I personally love goofy, so it wasn't so much that.

When I think of Megatron, I think about him moving through the ark, talking to himself, powering up and firing into Optimus Prime's face. Or him fighting Dinobot in the valley. Or him manipulating ravage. Season 2 Megatron is peak Megatron.

When I think of Rattrap, he basically spent half of the show in his season 1 body, half in his transmetal. There is so much to love with the transmetal from though. From Dinobot riding his vehicle mode, to.. well, just being Rattrap. And Rattrap had a lot to do throughout seasons 2-3, that we kinda had time to grow to love that body.

Tarrantulus just looks amazing.

On the other hand, Optimus barely shows up in season 2. It feels like until they wanted some sort of love-triangle with Silverbolt, Cheetor didn't really have much to do after season 1. I think with season 2, they focused on the more interesting characters. Blackarachnia, Silverbolt, Megatron, Dinobot, Rattrap and Tarrantulus kinda became the stars of the show, with everyone else having a supporting role. If they had a new body in season 2, but weren't one of those characters, you didn't really get a chance to really get used to it.

 

I still like Transmetal Optimus because his toy is so fun, but it was the weakest looking of all his bodies. The robot and alt modes were too similar as well I always thought. The chests were both basically the same design, just one had some sculpted fur and one was chrome. I think if the arms were more different and he didn't have such a gorilla-y face he'd look better simply for not going from, well, robotic gorilla to robotic gorilla.

I actually really like TM Cheetor, but his season 1 body is still the best. I think his beast mode is awesome and I still see Cheetor in his robot mode face. Plus again, I like the toy so much. I do think his bodies got progressively worse in BW, though.

 

Just 2 more months. Probably over 2 months away.
