Not even close but it is the best attempt at a tampo'ed battle damage. I bet had these been done like Grimlock, as on actual dry brushing, it would have turned out much better.

Is anyone bummed at the lack of forward, backward ankle tilt on most Siege figures?

Mainly the forward stuff. Backward I could go either way with.

It is so damn hard to get an easyformer line with good articulation and a comprehensive lineup. WFC Siege is definitely the closest thing to it, but still not enough for me.

I will just go back to my non-transformables and patiently wait for Maketoys MTCD to expand their cast.

WFC Siege is great, but the limitation of the ankle tilts was a dealbreaker for me. I might consider collecting Flametoys models instead.

The Ultra Magnus cab is definitely a better easyformer than the 23 step Voyager Optimus.

Warden mentioned that Ultra Magnus was based on its Studio Ox design.

I've been waiting (what feels like forever) for MT to expand the Cross Dimension cast and I just gave up; it's not only moving too damn slow but there is no sight on more non-leader characters (no not talking about the 'teased' usual suspects from the comics...more than 2 years ago.

I have decided to switch to Siege, I'll take the lack of articulation, no problem.

It's gonna be fun again 'collecting' transformers.

I don’t usually buy TF figures nowadays... if the figure transforms into a ship... well...

I’ve told myself I won’t be buying another figure after Broadside, Sixshot, and Broadside (JP)... but then they’re releasing Shockwave... Initially I was like, “nah.” After seeing his ship modes I’m now like, “...definitely going to buy it!”

    ...I’m a warship otaku...

    I hear you.

I was going to quit Maketoys or limit them to leaders only and go full force into WFC Siege as my first retail lime. But oh well.

Sideswipe review is up. It also lack forward and backward ankles.

Though, I am eager to see if they decide to improve the ankles in WFC Acts 2 and 3, though many remoulds and repaints will dominate.

I just looked up three reviews of Siege Megs and only the third actually mentioned/showed the lack of front/back ankle tilt... But no, yeah that's a bummer. I hope Hasbro takes note of this (if it's even feasible to incorporate).

To be frank, I was dissapointed in Rioter's ankle tilt as well, more importantly the sideways tilt; I had to cut away plastic to enable wider stances. Might try some modding here as well, if possible.

Why not get a battle damaged figure, and wait for a clean release in the future? The theme is war anyway.

"Why is everyone complaining about excessive battle damage? This line is called 'WAR for Cybertron', after all! In a war, you don't get pristine troops right off an assembly line!"

"Even if that were a convincing argument, the execution still looks bad. Excessive splotches of gray paint that look as if someone had drawn on the figure with a sharpie doesn't make for convincing battle damage."

"Well, you can't expect ultra-realistic detailing at Hasbro's retail budget!"

"Well, then maybe Hasbro shouldn't have decided to feature battle damage if they can old deliver a half-assed result?"

Really, if Hasbro had not used "battle damage", would anyone have complained about the lack of it?

Considering Transformers here cost twice the supposed retail price, and customs are creating a problem for online buyers right now, I still very much want these figures. I just started to collect, so I think I should very much spend the money these would cost in a bunch of deluxes of old lines that I never had the chance to get. But these two look just too good.

Even in death, his body did not fall. His figure, taking down enemies while losing half of his head, was truly monstrous. The total number of sword wounds he received in this battle was 267. He was shot by 152 bullets and was hit by 46 cannonballs. And despite all this, his proud back, over the course of his entire life as a pirate, never received a single scar from running away!

What interview was this from? I know Warden mentioned the RID inspiration for the alt.mode. Don't recall the Studio Ox part.

It’s the Studio OX inspiration that has me interested in this line in the first place.

The debate on backwards/forwards ankle tilts feels like First World problem complaining at its max.

That said, Optimus has articulated front and back "toes" with which you can attain similar stances.

Agreed. I'm not buying most of Siege but the articulation they added to bring them on par with older Generations releases is very welcomed.

The battle damage on Optimus and Megatron doesn’t bother me as much in hand as in pics. That being said, I’d prefer it wasn’t there.

These figures are just so fun to mess with and pose though. I’ve got a bunch of figures from Tf Con still sitting in boxes because I can’t put OP and Megs down.

I’m more excited for Shockwave than Ultra Magnus just because the CW Magnus was so good.
