Holy shit. I used to have an amazon.jp account back when I lived there, too. Maybe it's still active!
Well they're made in Japan so they're cheap there (like $3-4 each) but getting them overseas they might run you more like $5-6 each. They have them on amazon, even if it takes a little while to get to you sometimes. They're by far the easiest way to paint figures.

I swear to god usps is the worst. I ordered MPM-7 a month ago because I wanted it to come in as early as possible and despite that, MPM-7 is still on shelves before mine has arrived. I could’ve just waited and bought it at TRU if I knew it was going to take this long.

Pretty sure tru doesn't get it that early, cause when when tru was open, the distribution in my area was especially poor, and we wouldn't see new waves until several months after they were supposed to hit shelves. IDK though, maybe my experience was a one in a million thing

Nah, I was in TRU today and it was on the shelf. This is just telling me to never order anything from the US again

Overall digging the figure. My only major complaints are the wings (easily tucked away, but results in a major backpack) and his knee joints are too high (which makes it tough to give him low stance poses). Imagine if our knees are midway on our thighs.

Well, I got my MPM-7 today (Takara ver). Look ok, but then I realize the ear is missing on my bee:

Not sure where or if I can replace it, since I don't want to ship it back to Japan or it was possible that the piece just flew off somewhere and disappeared.

    PSA for MPM-7 owners

After an hour or so with the figure, ohoo yeah. You can totally do the trailer thing but it trades off rolling

This guy is still relatively new to me, and I've only transformed him from robot to car mode once. I will give my full impression after handling the figure some more

How is the backpack and your impression of the figure as a whole. Also, the pic of the underside makes me wish they actually incorporated the back wheel arches into the thighs instead of lumping them on the back.

I don't think that putting them on the thighs is right. His obliques are were they should be with the taillight sections on his heels.

Yeah, I was wrong about that, but I would've liked them anywhere but on that backpack. Would've also been nice to see them create a more screen accurate depiction of the wheels on his back. Additional options to display him with his wings up or down would also be a nice touch.

For MPM-3 & MPM-4, I warmed up to them the first day of owning them, but have not come around to MPM-7 just yet

    Initial impressions regarding your questions:
    • backpack is huge, especially since I configure him to look how @cybertronwarriors has them in their pic. I can say however there are a lot of joints that allow you to angle it back and adjust it in a comfortable variety of ways
    • ground clearance has to be absolutely perfect to roll. I find this aspect lackluster, even MPM-4 wasn't troublesome in that regard
    • I honestly don't mind the accessories and not being able to integrate in vehicle mode. Speaking of vehicle mode, it feels premium. Some will say too premium based on the actual reference material and how much dirtier the beetle should be
    • articulation is amazing. the ratchets and joints feel appropriately tight
Overall, still recommend MPM-6 more if you are into MPMs for the 1st trilogy aspect. I was fortunate enough to acquire this figure because a family member, being a Bumblebee and Volkswagen Beetle enthusiast/sympathizer, passed enough funds to me to add this one to the collection. I would say get this only after you have made your mind up on the quality of the movie itself. I would say it's the weakest of all that have released so far, but is still definitely deserving of the title "MPM"

An Asian reviewer said it best. MPM enthusiasts would greatly appreciate HasTak taking their time with MPM designs as long as it ensured the full potential of screen accuracy on the final figure. There was really no need for them to rush this to production other than to capitalize on hype. I guarantee if the movie was good, this figure would have no problem selling in the near future

Talking about Bee's face being visible under the car ala when Charlie sees it. When transformed correctly, you can't.

I was on the fence about grabbing this guy from Amazon for $80, but when I was pre ordering the new MP Prime from AmazonJP I noticed the Takara version was on sale. I couldn't pass him up for $65 Shipped.
