I was a guest Bumblebee at SDCC, after a thousand photos or so later working at the Hasbro booth I was given a few very unique and very collectible items. Can't say yes as a few collectibles aren't expected to arrive until Aug 2019.... needless to say they are tucked away at the Autobot Hideout! Can't wait to share them.....Bumblebee

Honestly? Blame the moviemakers. Given the long design and production period for something like a Masterpiece figure, Hasbro probably learned of the changes when it was too late and too much money was already spent on making the figure to scrap it completely.

What Hasbro needs is to finally ditch Paramount because it's not the first time when something like this is happening.

Yeah. Ultimately it's a good figure and built to a masterpiece standard and quality, even if a late change to the design screwed it on an accuracy front.

In a way, it reminds me of the Civil War concept Iron Man and Captain America figures Hot Toys has announced- I'm sure that the quality will be up to their usual high standards, but I get it when someone just wants something that matches the final film.

In a more direct but less drastic comparison, a lot of Hasbro's early Iron Man 2 product had inaccurate MK VI's, after the film makers decided to add silver and more gold to better differentiate the VI suit from the IV. Though in that case, it was simple enough to wait for Hasbro to do a rerelease in correct colours, since there were no sculptural differences. With Bee, neither the SS or MPM version can be so easily fixed.

But if you are someone who also enjoys the engineering of a transformer as well as (or in place of) enjoying having something that looks the part, don't pass this guy up because of some vestigial door wings.

I'm actually liking MPM-07 Bumblebee way more than I thought I would.
He may not be super accurate but the alt mode is incredible and posability is great! A really fun figure.

I keep wondering if they did know about the design change in time but it was just impossible to do in the figure. Where would the doors go on his back? The roof is already there. They can only do so much and the movie design cheats a lot. I don’t have the figure in hand yet but the back pack looks pretty big already in pics.

Or if it was a budget constraint? Maybe to get the doors in the right place the cost would be much higher? People are already complaining about the price as it is.

If it was impossible to do then they didn't know in time. You can't know in time but then not have time.

I love the way the top part of his nose is yellow in the movie, so I painted mine. I also printed an Autobot logo waterslide since the logo he has is almost impossible to see. Close-up neither look perfect - at this tiny size the printer dots are enormous - but in-hand I really like these minor changes.

On one hand, (I'm not sure whether or not Paramount has final say in merchandise and toys) it's possible that Paramount decreed that the MPM line needed a Bee movie tie-in. It makes some logical sense because the movie is being targeted at adults and kids, and that is also happening to the Studio Series line. On the other...if Paramount didn't say "give us a figure in the MPM line", then it's totally Hasbro's fault. They are well aware that designs can change late in production. I can't recall them off the top of my head (the best I can give right now is early promo photos of TF1 Megatron and that bizarre "face"), but afaik it's already been an issue with screen accurate movie toys.

That’s not what I meant. I meant that it may have been impossible because they couldn’t figure out how to do it with the time left and budget constraints. I’m a mechanical designer and I get unrealistic deadlines all the time. That means that very often products turn out much worse than they could have because management is screaming to get something done by a ridiculous date. A good example of this is the infamous 1 week design time given for MP-05 Megs version 1 which is why it sucks.

Picked this guy up, dont like it at all, really regret it. The feet tabs dont hold for shit, and the balance issues bug me, as well as the pin joints for the hips and knees, plus the lack of forward ankle articulation, so stupid

I've come to terms with him. Still... the lack of forward and backward ankle tilt is bad. Worse when my studio series version has it.
