For the face sculpt, if I do it, I'll be trying to add more character. Maybe I'll do two. One more toon looking and one of his sexy face from the comic:

Incidentally, even as a kid, I thought it was odd that Charlene's last words to Skids, who is a car that she loved, were about how she threw away her previous car that she also loved, when it experienced a failure that, to Skids, must seem pretty minor. "Skids, you mean the world to me. Just make sure your transmission never fails or I'll throw you out like yesterday's newspaper."

[Edit] maybe some day I'll go really nuts and try to model a Charlene figure. I've never 3d modeled a human before so I don't know how that'd go but I've recently gotten into painting DND minis so painting her would be no problem.

 

To me, it kinda reads like she's trying to diffuse the tension with a bit of gallows humour. She knows it's weird of her to get worked up over this impossible crush/infatuation/whatever. It's that classic romantic comedy/sitcom bit where after an otherwise amicable parting, one of the couple feels the urge to get it one last parting shot "Get outta here you louse! I never want to see you again!" sort of thing. Temporarily alleviate the sadness by forcibly interjecting some other emotion.

 

Aww, when you put it that way, it's actually kinda' sweet.

 

Really hope that XTB puts out a new face for this guy...


Also, hopefully Baba gets his stock in soon.

 

Having this lovely bot in hand right now, I seems that the white paint used on the face is just a tad too thick in a way that the finer details are lost. Though I'm loathe to actually remove the paint, I think I'm going to try to enhance it with a 0.1 millimeter grey fine-liner.

Did anyone else have as much trouble detaching the windshield from the hood as I did? I had to put in a scary amount for force to actually pull that thing loose.

 

There's a way where you use little force, xtb put out a video that was linked earlier but I can't find it. It's almost like a snapping motion but it separates easily.

 

Maybe you were looking at his bot mode character model, they seem to have removed the partitions for that!

He does seem to have a curvier, almost cat-like face in the comics (until the UK randomly gave him a faceplate later on). I liked his G1 toy head too, which felt quite different. I guess if XTB had included all the alternatives I'd have a hard time deciding which to display him with...

I've been saying for ages someone should do a whole range of human characters for display with MPs. There's a lot could be done when you think about it, and they ought to be fairly cheap to make and sell.

I often find myself adding a mouth line with a fine pen for extra definition, it works especially well when there's already some sculpted surface to follow (MMC Hellion was the last one I did). The problem with an overpainted/undersculpted face like this guy is making it not look like a drawn on mouth.

 

Skids now with mods. Wouldn't have even tried to do the windows, arms and face without other more intrepid members having a go first.

 

My god that looks excellent. I haven't even transformed mine yet still enjoying the alt mode

 

I think I'll stick with the traditional shoulders. I like how his arms look with the encapsulated wheels. And I'll do a panel line on his mouth. I might give his face a thin silver coat (got a nice silver paint that goes on very thin and kind of transparent) to keep it mostly the stock color but with a slight metallic sheen. If I make him a new face, I'll give that one a straight silver paintjob.

 

So what’s the issue with the shoulder

I've missed it clearly so how do you get the shoulders like that?

 

They can be rotated around (inwards) and then rotate at the elbows. Can anyone recommend a reallyfine grey spray paint (uk) cheers?

 

Has anyone who ordered theirs from TFSource gotten it in hand yet? My order says it was shipped on wed, but the tracking hasn't updated. It still just shows that a label was created.

 

I am totally new to (re)painting, but it looks like the face mod is totally worth learning something new...
Would any of you help me with a noob's guide on what you did to get that face to look like it does now?
