I kinda wish they used ravage's bulkiness to evoke that arboreal mode he had in War Within. If nothing else it's the only different design he's had.

After the years of the classics line, Iron Factory is the only way I'm willing to seeker up. The Megatron perched alone has his head fully up and looks fine.

TJ, you should get the other ToyWorld Throttlebots. I got Aurora’s years ago and loved him for the price but never thought about the others for their cost. Then a local collector shop got all the others except shinebug and he sold them to me for $100. Wideload is a terrible terrible toy, especially when making Throttle-Puzzler. But the others are all just as or just a touch below Aurora. I shipped Shinebug from Japan with the re-release and he is also amazing but alas cost $70.

He might still have extras of the other 3 limbs. I can find out before TFCon if you want

Speaking on things we need to complete the 1984 cast in classics/generations style

Hasbro desperately needs to make a legends class cliffjumper, a proper one, with his g1 head. He is a glaring missing piece of the collection and they can remold him into hubcap. Legend class better come back somehow

Chris, I\'m with you. I REALLY want the Cyberverse toys to do the show justice...but as someone who has bought most of the figures, I\'m VERY dissappointed right now.

@Vangelus, On the topic of Shockwave’s extra shoulder arm cannons consider the following; “rooty-tooty shoulder shoo-tees”

They really, really, really should've given us a Leader class Scorponok in this line, since it's likely that we'll be getting a Titan version in 2020 or 2021 and I want both a Titan and a Leader Class version.

Plus it's not like they're shy on giving us other characters with different sizes every other year anyway.

The leg kibble in Starscream's Tetrajet mode is an eyesore but to me it's not a deal breaker. H3ll, we've given Sky-lynx a pass. I'm more bothered by the cheap looking Null Rays than I am with his Ult-mod since I doubt I'll use that mode much anyway.

As for the Null Ray guns, I can't wait to see how the Classics Starscream's Null Rays will look on him in bot mode instead of those cheap gray guns. Or even the FOC reversions.

And please NO MORE LEADER CLASS SEEKER TALK! I hated and skipped all of those and since this line claims to be based on "SCALE" why does that one guy keep bringing Leader Seekers up......

Just started listening to this episode, and as someone who goes to NYCC each year, yes. It is super crowded. There isn't much there anymore that really gets me excited. My girlfriend likes buying handmade pop culture stuff. We both like hanging out in artist alley and getting some prints. I have a sketch book that I try to get a few sketches in each year too. One downside is that there are vendors there that I'll see at other shows, and they jack their prices up at NYCC so I don't buy anything from them there.
Anyway, I'm excited to listen to the rest of the podcast. Super excited for Omega Supreme!

Inhuman Elm! I also recently joined the group of collecting as an adult on a stable income! My number one piece of advice is prioritizing. I spent a lot of years collecting and found that the cycle you described wasn’t bringing me happiness so I massively downsized. Right now I’m actually only really collecting Brave figures. It’s slow and it’s usually only a figure or two a month. Even though I spend more on each individual figure than I would a whole bunch of transformers I know that these are figures that won’t end up in a bin anytime soon. Basically I try to recognize what will eventually end up in a bin before I buy it to avoid something that might give me the thrill of a new toy but doesn’t give me joy in the long run.

Secondly and sadly- being smarter about how you collect will actually help you save money which is useful when your source of stable income becomes no source of income (I just lost my job today and didn’t see it coming at all but I’m glad my collecting habits are in a place where they can continue regardless). Life changes do happen and it sucks when it does.

If my first thing doesn’t work for you, then as TJ says there’s always eBay. Even if you sell something that you think you might regret there’s a chance 5 years down the line you’ll just buy it again. However most of the times I’ve sold something it was because it wasn’t something I actively messed with. I still appreciated it and could enjoy it, but I didn’t need to own it.

    Hope that helps!

Also a system I’ve had for a while is “whatever fits into this display case and one bin for storage”. When you exceed that set limit (whatever it might be for you) choose something to go! It’ll help keep things in check.

Inhuman Elm rules definitely help you manage your budget.

I try and limit myself to one version of a character (across the Transformers multiverse) and one copy of a mold if possible. It's kept me from spending too much.

Although I am considering making an exception for Shockwave. I have this vision of his next step in self improving is to disassociate his mind from his body and become a large fleet of Shockwaves, kind of like The Ellimist or Ultimate Galactus. So I've been tempted to pick up Cyberverse Ultra, Cyber Battalion, and then Siege to go along with my Prime and Combiner Wars G2 shockwaves.

Vangelus, I've been ranting and raving about Cog and and Brunt for two years or so. There are dozens of us!

On the subject of greebly details that you guys were talking about, I think it’s on all of them. The ones that stick out as having the worst of it happen to be the ones that have all the paint on them. The two production figures we see, Optimus and Megatron, are in the actual plastic colors that we will be getting and it results in subdued detailing. I’m sure Megs will look fine alongside his fellow decepticon since we get the actual product in hand.

My headcanon for Battletrap and Flywheels is that both had the innate ability to split into two parts as vehicles, but at some point Battletrap’s components became separated. Since both components of a Duocon seem to contain the Cybertronian’s consciousness, if the two are kept separate for long enough, they eventually develop their own individuality, thus they become Roadtrap and Battleslash. (I also like to think that they intentionally avoid staying combined for too long, out of fear that their invididuality will be lost.)

Also, the “radical clavical” madness is definitely top podcast bits of the year.

Concerning the collection pruning; if you don't want to deal with the wait for buyers or shipping, donating toys to good will or whatnot is always an option (maybe not the third party stuff - safety regs and all that).

Vangelus, John Warden was the main force behind the diorama, and spent a surprising amount of time and detail explaining how he put it together. Hunt through pictures for bits of older Generations figures as part of the diorama itself.

Piggy backing on the listener question. I moved into an apartment last year, and while it's a fine place to live and I have plenty of room, I can't display everything. I have 4 shelves for my Transformers at the moment. I have 1 shelf that displays my favorite Autobots, one for my favorite Decepticons, 1 for larger size figures like Fort Max, Predaking, Trypticon and some other ones and finally one for recent purchases. It changes pretty often. I would love to one day have a display where I can show everything off, but I like being able to change stuff out.
Otherwise, the rest of my collection is stored in 3 large storage bins and I keep the MP figures in boxes if they aren't displayed, or the boxes are empty if they are displayed.
