    It'd be better if it had the shoulder smokestacks, but this is still cool.

    No, this is the first G1 Optimis costume since the 80s. Previous costumes were based on RiD Optimis.

    Actually this costume is indeed New, I got it confused with g1 Prime costume that was indeed was released 3 years ago sadly they don't make it anymore I don't think. I could only find a picture of the adult size version but I believe they made it for kids as well.

    They also have G1 gloves sold separately. I got the whole set for my son. I’m going to attach 2 aluminum foil covered paper towel rolls to the shoulders. I’m also considering having my wife sew an energon axe shaped candy bag to accompany it...or making an open ended pvc pipe ion blaster with a candy bag stock. :D

    My son finally decided this is the costume he wants for Halloween. Now if only I can find one that fits him. I wish he would have decided back when we saw it at a store weeks ago.
