On the other hand, I don't understand why anyone likes the SS version over the HftD version. I think he looks terrible and inaccurate. Awesome that he has nice articulation, but both modes just made too many concessions for that to happen.

I mean, my default will always be the Leader version, but if I have to choose a voyager...

 

The best Voyager movie Optimus is the TLK Voyager. He'd be perfect with more articulation. Unfortunately, no Voyager made of the first trilogy design is satisfying.

I find the Bumblebee movie design to be terrible as a Movieverse design, but would love a toy of it to repurpose as an IDW Optimus, preferably in Leader because of Studio Series' incredible shrinking Voyagers.

 

I mean I see where you're coming from, but man that HFTD Voyager is just an awful attempt at simplifying the ROTF Leader. That figure gets a shit ton of flak for getting in its own way, and the Voyager just amplifies that by taking away all the joints that let the parts get out of the way and the figure just ends up a clunky mess and just isn't fun to handle. The SS figure may have its downsides when it comes to accuracy, but he never comes apart and is just a joy to pose and play around with.

 

It all comes down to personal taste, I suppose. I'm sure if I had him in-hand, my opinion of the SS would change, but based on looks alone, he doesn't do it for me. Plus, I find the HftD version (actually, the Movie Advanced one, in my case) to scale better with the SS figures.

 

The HFTD definitely does scale better, (and has a much cleaner truck mode) I won't deny. But when you look at them as action figures, it just doesn't stand a chance.

 

Mine also spend a majority of their time on the shelf, so I'm ok with the "less fun" version lol.

 

Do you want one? I’m looking to get of my SS Optimus as I just don’t care for it. He’s a good figure, but I’m purging for the Beeverse.

I do not get any of the fascination with the Prime Masters/Pretenders in POTP. Titanmasters stripped of their cool headsculpts that transform into useless cubes and can wear ugly bricks of a figure that turn into ugly bricks of weapons? I'm supposed to have fun with that? I knew I'd hate them from the beginning, but I just got my first ones for two bucks each (probably shelfwarmed so hard because they're so obviously awful toys) and I'm still disappointed.

 

I look at it more this way. It’s a core of a Matrix that can transform. It’s not really meant to be used as a robot, and the Decoy suits are just their for fun. It’s a Matrix for $5.

Of course, I have the hots for the Thirteen, so any artifact related to them gets me moist. So I’m biased.
