I'd buy that. I'd buy two. One to keep MOC or whatever.

Add me to the list of folks who wish it was at least vaguely Ghostbusters-related. Like Classics Megatron redone as a proton thrower, or Combiner Wars Ratchet/First Aid painted as the Ecto-1. Maybe Soundwave or Blaster painted as ghost traps and their tapes as "ghosts." Or if they really wanted to be out there, Cosmos as the Extreme Ghostbusters trap. ;)

I was also trying to finagle a ghosts vs. Ghostbusters set in my head; the best I could come up with was the CW Protectobots with GB deco vs. repainted Terrorcons, or even better a reissue/reversion of the Pretender Monsters.

They're always so terribly Japan-centric. Does anyone in the USA care about an Evangelion crossover? Or the stupid BAPE junk?

I just think there are more intelligent (i.e. profitable) crossovers to explore. GB is one of them. :)

Takara is Japan-centric? lol for real tho?

And it's cute you spout your opinion as the rest of the States'.

    Sorry, Clint. :lol

It was more of an open invitation for debate - I wasn't opinionating for the entire community.

But look at your cynical viewpoint for a minute? Why do you just assume I'm another douchebag here to ruin your hobby by being an over-opinionated A-hole? :lol  I mean, I understand your paranoid concern, but you should really just ask me or phrase your response to be a LITTLE more friendly! :thumb

"Cute" is a nice back-handed compliment, but I appreciate it, nonetheless! :D

Wasn’t meaning to be rude. But the cynical sentiment is common on these boards. ‘your toys suck’ and the like. So frustration can come out and be rather abrasive. Sorry about that.

But seriously. Japan will do japan. If Bandai wasn’t so stingy we’d already have a Gundam MP-10.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. I sincerely appreciate it! :)  Sorry for the abrasive response, too!

I just wanted to point out that TF collectors are a good community (arguments aside), and that we should try to embrace our similarities. Plus, a lot of "abrasive" people are only like that on the outside - some of the best folks I've met seemed mean (at first)!

A Gundam crossover sounds kind of cool, actually - I wonder if they could do a trailer that launches a Gundam??? :D  Ideally, maybe one that can hold 2-3 Gundams, with a launch system on top or when the trailer opens?
And I love Japan - I've visited several times! But the thing about me? I can love something and still see the flaws. For example, I'm still angry about the stupid racism in Japan (i.e. blackface characters like Mr. Popo, inappropriate uses of religious symbols, the entire Hetalia Axis Powers manga/anime existing, etc.). I call it "precocious racism" because Japan is really NOT trying to be hateful (yet they constantly express hurtful racism much like a child might utter the N-word without thinking). Japan-centrism is a very serious issue!!!

If you've ever visited, you might understand what I mean. I don't know if you've been there or not.
But culturally educating themselves would be amazing, and since Japan does export a lot of their products today, it makes sense to NOT be racist or make items only a few people (i.e. Japan-only) would be interested in. So, for every Evangelion crossover release (for example), they could pair a WWE crossover or GI Joe crossover or whatever. But yeah, Japan loves Japan the most. I get that.

Maybe it's presumptuous of me to point out the rampant narcissism, I guess. :p

As a fellow Gundam fan, I might ask your thoughts about their portrayal of other countries in G Gundam! :)

Isnt it? The only english words on the Box of Magnus (random Mp example that I own) is Transformers and inside the manual they translated the Lazer Carbine but did not bother for the bio or even the instructions for crying out loud.....

Someone needs to put a hat and camera on Optimus Primal. Then paint him in these colors.

i seriuosly don't uderstand why they should have done that. Their license to sell transformers is limited to japan since 1983, so why bother?
And sincerely i don't remember otherjapanese brands translating their collector pieces. SOC material is totally japanese, iirc.

If you want English you can google search Soundwave’s Oblivion. He translated the extended bios of MP figs. Excellent source for us non-Japanese speaking super fans.

I think it's more like "English is cool" things. From what I understand japanese companies will drop English in things to make them sound more hip. Just like "Prego Classico marinara " sounds more like it could be really Italian more than "Classic Prego tomato sauce".

Just like Americana get Kanji tattoo and have no freaking idea what they mean, Japanese and Chinese do the same with clothing with American words it's kind of a coolness of being different. Don't know about Korea but I watched a drama the other day , when a guy just randomly started talking whole sentences in English between Korean, guess they put it in their because his English was pretty good, instead of just the normal Hi, Bye-bye and okay.

Which has nothing to do with TT (or does it and I miss info?) or the fact that they didnt gave two shits about international customers.

False logic in there. The product is been sold worldwide. Or you want to convince me its been done so illicitly? Or there is something else I miss entirely? I would love an explanation.

Regarding the other Japanese brands, I never send its not a cultural thing. In fact I believe (no offence meant) that it has to do more with the Japanese isolationist historical and cultural tendencies more than anything.

The explanation is simple: Takara does not have the right to directly sell and/or distribute Transformers to retail stores outside of Japan. So they only sell to retailers within Japan, which is by agreement with Hasbro, their exclusive market. What those retailers then do with the figures is none of Takara's business.

The few very rare exceptions to this are major online retailers such as BBTS who have direct accounts with Takara. But even in their case, I would hazard a guess that BBTS has a Japanese subsidiary that handles the transaction so as not to get in a legal problem with Hasbro.

I live in Asia and attitudes from foreigners with entitled attitudes like yours are frowned upon and seen as rather childish.

Yeah it’s unfortunate that we don’t get to read about our favorite characters and toys. But they owe us nothing more than a exported figure from their country.

Gotcha and thnx. Still I believe if they wanted they could make an English translation if anything else for the cards themselves. Even as BTTS or whatever exclusives.

But if it was from someone nearer it wouldnt be eh? Oh look at the entitlement of the European, he asks for English on a product we sell to his country. How entitling much childish:lol :lol

The good thing is that soon such xenophobia will die out.
