Autograph signings are always awkward for me. Maybe because I don\'t want to come off as geeky as I am. I attended several autograph signings mainly for Wrestlers, my best experience was with Mick Foley when he came down to Singapore to promote a WWE event and his 2nd book \"Foley is Good\". Helps that Mr.Foley is such a warm dude and probably has met way more awkward people than me.
Jim Shooter was infamous for not being keen on LGBT characters but was the same person whom pushed for Ferrolad to be black in the original Legion of Super Heroes, he later made one of his Valiant heroes Peter Stanchek ( or Sting) a great LGBT character. JMS had noted opinions on the same but later went on to help produce Sense8. I hope you understand what I am getting at. People can and have changed their stance.
I understand where you're coming from but Byrne's racism is recent and consistant. I wouldn't have brought it up otherwise. A quick google will show that he has made at least one public statement of astonishing bigotry every year for the past decade.
He sounds no different then any other old man from the Baby Boomer Generation, and here's the list of quotes I'm assuming you're talking about. I've been to many Cons and had many conversations with people who be considered "Legends", and a lot of them sound a lot like John Byrne. If you get the opportunity have a chat with Neal Adams. He'll leave your jaw on the floor with his opinions on things. That being said, the fact that he's old doesn't make it right, but it doesn't change what he created... at least for me anyway.
so...word of advice...next time you find yourself in a life size action display....do a pose like you're powering up....not one that looks like you're shitting yourself
clearly you have never properly defecated yourself, I am obviously powering up as my colon is barely erect
