I'll say, for a obviously kid-focused gimmicky toy loaded with electronics 'n' shit, it looks pretty good.

Hope the deluxe figure looks better then this though it would be nice if they do a leader class figure.

I'm hoping the Studio Series version does better at capturing something like screen accuracy - when I saw the trailer I figured no toy could do it exactly!

Hoping for that Generations Legends Volkswagen beetle. Even Goldbug would be fine.

Pretty sure he looks different because he was based on concept art. Same thing happened with previous movies. I'm sure that further down the line we'll see figures that look closer to his final on-screen design :)

I don't doubt that they will do much better than this. It's just a start.

Although they could get the details maybe 90 - 95% screen accurate, and somehow lose the design appeal in the process. There are a lot of subtle things that give the character the right attitude, and the angles certain parts meet up at that make the design a cut above. I usually wouldn't care all that much. There were previous movie figures I liked that didn't even come close. I'll give them a chance.

Subtleties aside, I really wish they had lost the door wings. Perhaps that came late in the design phase. Makes it look too much like the same old Bumblebees they've been doing for the past decade.

A Shell-Former is a transformer where a good chunk of the vehicle mode is just a "shell" around the robot, rather than actually forming part of it. Recent examples are most of the AOE Autobots and Galvatron.

Yeah man, i was asking for a specific (in ypur opinion) amount...
How much is "a good chunk"? If 25% of the altmode becomes part of the bot is it a shell former? 15?,
Does it have to form a crucial part of the bot? Like the chest/torso? Or if say, the feet are formed from altmode but tge rest is shell is ir still a shellformer?

I’d say st least 50-60% of the alt-mode is just balled up on the back of the robot.

Drift is one of the exceptions. Galvatron and Crosshairs are the most egregious examples, I would say.

Eh, Drift was pretty shell-y. Most of the car just sorta dangles from his shoulders and back.

Given the lead time on toy releases, this pretty much confirms they changed the bot designs in the movie after Last Knight flopped. Movie got pushed back 6 months to change the CGI, and the toys were past the point of changing in time.

That transformation sequence is dope. Very athletic.
