Anyway I'm still looking to pre order this thing. I would have done it off of Amiami already but they're lame system of grouping things by month works against me rn so I might try HLJ.

 

Unicron is actually a pretty good mold. I have one from Armada. However it's not good enough to pay $200 for no matter what color scheme they put on it.

The thing shelf warmed during it's first run and this seems like an excuse to get rid of the extra figures that never got sold. That said, if they couldn't sell at the cheaper original price what in the sam hell makes them think they can raise the price and sell them?

Hell I think I only spent like $50 on the same figure. I don't think even Last Knight Cybertron sold for $200 and it's the same size class. He's also got a much better planet mode as it's not totally flat on one side like Unicron is.

I'd suggest waiting and hope the price goes down to a more reasonable amount. No toy should ever cost freaking $200 unless it's made of solid gold instead of plastic.

Nice but I still have the original Armada version. Through all of the years that one has been good enough for me. Had this been a new version that is as big as the new Metroplex I would be interested.

 

Good luck selling this, Takara!   I guess it's a Takara thing now: selling Titan toys for too much money and then getting disappointed by poor sales!   Then again, I can't blame them for trying - the smaller exclusives probably don't sell too well at Takara prices either.  

Rosey-colored glasses, bud. The mold wasn't that great at all. For example, good luck standing that top-heavy thing on those bad ankles (with poor ratchets). I was pretty nervous standing him on a table for auction pics!   It's a toy literally destined to fall off a high shelf (because of poor ankle joints).

Plus, he's not that clever of a transformation, nor a particularly detailed model. I just think Unicron should have more ornate planet surfacing...

 

Lol, no rosy any thing here man , I am a huge G1 fan and it was the first , actual release of him , so it`s more a sentimental thing for me , and to , mine had no real joint and or feet tilt problems...Some how , most of the time ..I end up getting a toy and it lack all to most flaws that others end up struggling with ...So , again ..No seeing what I want to see

My original has been standing tall for the past 15 years. The Energon black one I used to own was also fine, and so is the more G1ish reissue. I've got no doubt that this version will be free of problems as well.

 

I agree that a new mold for Unicron is absolutely necessary, but....

I ordered 2 of the ones Amazon had back in 2010.

 

Green Been Unicron looks cool.

 

The only problem I had with my Armada Unicron was that his eyes stopped working, found it to be a loose wire but joint wise he was fine.

 

I love Unicron but the planet halves just hanging off the back really sucks and gets in the way. I think it's about time for an all new mold

 

Just got an email from Amazon Japan saying the figure has been delayed from 12-30-18 to 1-2-19. Not much of a difference but okay.
