Dmks are like the SJWs of Toys- touch them the wrong way and they’ll react as if you’ve full on assaulted them and all their ancestors...
I think that’s a functional joke. Either way, DMKs are lighter and more fragile than your standard action figure but shouldn’t fall apart on you. However if a piece does fall off- you can just pop it back on or use glue when assembling for extra sturdiness.
I have the IW Ratchet but have yet to assemble him. I also bought 4EVER’s Optimus Prime 2.0 and ROTF Megatron which are beautiful but I’d hate to drop one. There’s also a few Bandai model kits on my possession low I think about it and they’ve all held up well. However I basically just paint, assemble, pose then display my figures so my collection doesn’t get manhandled enough for me to find out who’s got weak joints etc.

    Welcome to TFW.

Here's two videos on their similar Movieverse Ratchet figure, to give you an idea of their construction and quality:

Everything appears connected by friction alone, so I know I personally will be gluing where it isn't a hindrance to articulation.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies people, and for the welcomes!

I’m glad there won’t be cutting and painting required, judging by Ratchet, but he looks pretty fragile. Damnit.

I’m the other kind of collector who’s always fiddling with the bots, and I let the kids play with the sturdier ones under supervision (my 2yr old loves Voyager Prime Megatron, indicating great taste, although she’s renamed him ”the Pee Robot” for reasons unknown). There’s a chance dear Optimus will do his usual canon thing and die.

Then again I actually started drooling when I first saw this. Stylistically, it’s a dream come true. The head says no way after reading your replies, but the heart says they can make him out of spun glass if they want because it’s m-f TFP Prime.

What, you've never had to pee so bad that you've made that face?
With their attention to detail, and what's looking to be premium paint jobs, coupled with their scale and displayability, I think those are good trade-offs for delicacy and lack of transformation. It's an easy sell to me, but I can definitely understand the reservation.

Finally it makes sense. I was like ”No, the millions-year-old leader of the Decepticons is called -Megatron-, that’s a far more dignified name”, but she insisted.

I went and looked at my Maketoys Hearts of Steel Starscream, which is delicate (as well as 30% made of knives) and I think I’ve made my peace with a fragile Optimus. Lack of transformation is weird, but then again the kibble free back is beautiful. The, uh, legs of Megatron look damn fine too so it seems this household is getting both.

Now, if they could only make TFP Starscream after Megs. He even canon doesn’t transform for much of the show.

We'll be seeing an update on the fusion cannon next, as far as I know.

Wow! Can I has the sword?

I have no other personal interest in this BUT, I really hope it goes well, saleswise.

They might do a Knockout afterwards yes?

Oooo, this looks promising. Any release date for this guy? Aleeady got my preorder in for OP from Z store but he'll look much better with a matching Megs next to him!

I think I remember them saying end of this year? Megatron is still in development though, so I think next spring is a more realistic timeframe.

November this year, per their Weibo. Megatron next year, and...

Hinting at a robust Beast Hunters Optimus.

    Beefimus Prime? Pass.

But OP 1.0 and Megs are definitely going on my must-have list.

    Thanks for the update. :)

I have always found matching up OP's blue colors to be the most difficult when i paint for some reason. Reds i can nail. Metallics, no problem. But blues i mix and paint over and over and they still seem wrong.

This looks very interesting. The metallic sheen is lovely, but I'm thinking this shade of blue is just a tad too light .

    Am i a blue snob??

:)  Thanks for posting. Still hoping they'll find a way to include the Matrix into this guy somehow.

I agree with you Zcat. When looking at the show Prime had a very deep rich blue color which to me matched the slightly grittier tone of the show in general.

Maybe this blue will turn out okay once we actually see it all finally assembled, but for right now I'm a little disappointed.

I’ve used Tamiya ts-51 racing blue for some prime customs. It’s a glorious blue.

Fingers crossed we get a BH Ultra Magnus too... I mean, he's over 3/4s the same model. Just need a different head, chest and shoulderpads. I can't imagine them not doing him unless the OP kit doesn't do well, which considering there's 0 TFP stuff on the 3rd party market sounds highly unlikely...
