Do you get a newspaper ? Always an ad inserted with the funny pages and one on the back of Parade magazine every Sunday. Popular Science, Popular Mechanics magazine, and their app. It's how I got most of my tools for building. Plus freebies . Do you know how many free flashlights, magnetic Parts holders, magnetic tool bars and exploding voltmeters I got?

    Looks like fun!!
They pass out almost a years supply of coupons every week. But here you go, for example some of the things you'll find useful.

Diamond Point Rotary Bit Set 20 Pc.
Diamond Point Rotary Grinding Set 10 Pc

Those are the diamond rotary bits you see me using. I just use them by hand.

Some of the stuff that you can buy there is "use it until you throw it away" grade, but you'd be surprised how long some of it lasts compared to more expensive namebrands. Great place for cheap boxes of nitrile gloves and I got my ultra sonic cleaner here too. .

Spent some time tonight on the Prototype Gouf. Adding metallic paint to almost every joint and exposed detail of the inner frame.

    20180818_201743.jpg

Obvious areas are the pistons, molded and functional, but I'm adding more to the interconnecting areas like the shoulder joint here.

    And the work overall

    20180818_231703.jpg

My gold enamel got a little heavy on me, lumping on the brush even though I'd stirred it long enough, but nothing a quick clean up with some solvent can't fix that will smoothen it out. I want to get some of the gold Rub N Buff wax. I used the silver on the rollcage of the 911 GT2 Porsche and it really softens the color and erases my brush strokes.

    20180805_192110.jpg
.. and one last look at this before it sadly disappears under a cover.. forever.

Picked up Daban’s zeta yellow wolf from taobao. Only just realised that this was a limited bandai release. Was tossing up between the regular mg zeta, and bought this since the weapons are cooler!

Anyway the plastic and mold looks really good for a KO. And news that Daban is now also doing a KO GT Gravity Builder seems like they’re diversifying. Will be interesting to see the quality of those.

Man, I can't wait to get my hands on this kit! Though I'm gonna need to hit the inside of those thruster bells with some yellow paint.

Nice score, but be careful though, I heard through a guy on Google+ that Daban is in Bandai's crosshairs for legal dispute and closure, like Dragon Momoko.

Ah I see. Maybe that’s why they’re venturing into KO 3P figures.

Cool, didn't know this thing exists. Might have to get one too.
Also, it's not the direct KO of Bandai's.
I didn't bother to check if Daban KO this design from some other GK modelers
but it is definitely different from Bandai version in many parts.
    MG ゼータガンダム3号機B型 グレイ・ゼータ

Also saw someone on Kijiji selling HGUC GP03D for $300 CAD.
Pretty good price. Too bad I just broke my car's taillight so that needs to be taken care first.

M9E Gernsback ver IV. from Bandai
Prefer the previous version so hoping either Goodsmile or Kotobukiya will release their own version in the future
but this one isn't half bad either.

New modular rifle from the IV. Have to buy both M9E to get all the options.

There is always the Aoshima models. It's much closer to a 1:100 scale kit in size but you have to paint the whole back half of it.

They were fine. Is there an issue people are having with them?

Finished snapping the Clear Mirage Colloid Ver. Mirage. I forgot how much abs smells when you sand it. Its been so long since i built a bandai kit with that plastic lol

When I first read this, my first thought was NOT about abs plastic and I was going to question what sandpapering your chest actually was going to acomplish besides a trip to the hospital.

While the Aoshima kits are based on the previous design that I prefer, the kit itself is very old and the proportions don't look good either so I couldn't bring myself to buy them.
Their ARX-8 Laevatein just released this year actually looks quite nice, better than the Kotobukiya version.
It's also a brand new release but like you said, it's 1/48. Much less selections in this scale.

    That's why it's called "chiseled"

..yeah that joke sucked. Looks good Squee. Have you tried holding a black light to that kit yet?

The abs frame has slightly tinted yellow, so i've been soaking some test runner pieces in hydrogen peroxide and uv light. Just looks like regular clear parts/purple.

Spent two and a half weeks in Japan, home of the Gundams and came back with these:

It was really cool to see stores stocked with Gundams and visiting The Gundam Base Tokyo was amazing. I just wish I had more luggage space to bring back more kits. Haha. Was planning on picking up the RG Sazabi before realising it's box was the same size as a big MG. lol.

One of the highlights of the trip for me was definitely seeing the life-sized Unicorn Gundam and the little show they put on for it:
