I think it's a hold over from when there was more people on the show and we would wait to be promoted so we did all stumble over each other. I don't think I'm bored... Just how I talk sometimes I guess.
Seth just talks that way. It might even be an accent, since Jamie Hyneman of Mythbusters sounds the same way. Either that, or Seth just holds the entire TF Fandom in contempt & thinks we're all peons. I just think Seth just needs to start wearing a beret & grow a walrus type stache. Then people will just learn to accept him as he is.
I don’t think he’s bored as much as losing interest in the hobby. He mentioned a few podcasts before that he isn’t buying anything new both for lack of it and general attitude toward the line. I could be wrong but we all go through it. I haven’t read many comics in months. I still like them but just going through one of those times where I’m glad to take a break.
Well it's a pain to listen to so I suggest he pass the mantle on to someone who can show some interest. I really want to love this podcast but I haven't been able to get through an entire episode with just the two of them. The ones where others guest star are a joy to listen to.
I guess just ignore what i said earlier and just make up your own story about what my deal is. Go ahead and don't listen, it doesn't matter to me.
Sorry, I genuinely didn't see your response above. I just want to listen to a show about a hobby where the people sound like they are excited about it, and it does honestly sound like you're not interested. If there was someone else around maybe that would help, or even if some of the pauses were edited out, but maybe that's too much work. Like I said, I WANT to love this show, and it's so close to being good, but for me right now it almost feels like someone's pretending to care for my benefit and my girlfriend already does that and it's obvious haha
How many years has it been and Seth still gets complaints about how he sounds? His voice and affectation aren't like misinformation or some malicious attack on his part, it's literally how the dude speaks and for many listeners is part of his charm. He doesn't have a way to change how he sounds without an investment of effort that is I guarantee far too significant, considering the time required to go through speech training, for a podcast the man does in his spare time every other week. As for his actual interest in Transformers, would Seth continue to participate with Vangelus every other week if he cared nothing for them? His interest in the fandom didn't disappear just because he doesn't have a detailed opinion on every single toy made or buy things just to say he's keeping up with the fandom. In the latter case, that's a very detrimental way of going about collecting in fact and I'm thrilled he doesn't do it that way. Moreover, his participation in the fandom has been plenty over the years and is unfair to diminish because he doesn't live up to someone else's standards of fandom interest, which starts to reek of gatekeeping. There are many other Transformers podcasts out there and a variety of different hosts in them; there's nothing wrong with seeking another one that's better suited to your tastes, because why would you force yourself to listen to a podcast where you find a host grating? We've never had the pleasure of meeting in person to my recollection Seth, but you're a cool dude and I've always found you a welcome addition to the podcast. Never change.
just re: the prompting I am generally still prompting everyone to talk because that remains a necessity of getting a VOIP based discussion to flow - really wish I could stop doing it but even in the best scenario it'd lead to longer awkward pauses since none of us can make eye contact btw it's staying on the level but I can feel the heat rising in here so please take a sec before continuing <3
Vangelus, have you ever thought about mixing up hosts a bit? I think you have a great thing and Seth is a great guy. I’ve talked to him here and there. But the dynamic of the 3 person podcast is different from the 2 person one. I’d like to hear you and Seth with someone else occasionally. Like I said before, not sure where Seth is with the hobby but if he is only partially interested like I am at the moment, another voice might reinvigorate the episodes.
I think the thing holding that up has been scheduling (mostly on my end) has become difficult to do the show on a regular day at a regular time. It would be hard to mix a 3rd person into that. I have no problem with a new person joining in and if we can get things more stable it would be worth looking into finding someone.
I hear that. A few good friends and I tried doing a podcast but couldn’t nail down a time to meet consistently.
Just looking at Syd Mead concept art on Pinterest and I thought, imagine if Hasbro had just hired Syd Mead to do the vehicle designs for Seige WFC. What do you guys think?
