It's fun not to read a single word of all of those essays about armchair toy engineering for sure!

I'm hoping for both, same as MP10. Doors with a slide out ramp.

I prefer a real world alt mode as much as possible and an articulated robot mode, the fact that the real world alt mode would turn into a 'toon accurate bot mode is just icing on the cake.

I’d hope that for colors they use the remastered blueray edition of the ‘86 movie

Yeah, you're right about the color of the windshield having a different color based on what's underneath it. I actually tried using the color surrounding the matrix chamber from the movie. There's a layer for the window that lets the lower layers show through when you adjust the opacity of it. It was something I noticed from some of cheebs and anonymous dwell's digibashes. I like seeing those things that the digibasher noticed and wanted to highlight and it also motivated me to want to try it out myself. I manually adjusted the resulting color to try to match ratchet by eye, but it could be interesting to try to use the ratchet windshield color with the color of the chamber. If it's too dark, we can try to guess how they'd want to paint that area a lighter gray or white to make the chest blue.

For how they handle the various shades of blue we've seen prime in, I'm starting to wonder if they'll use a similar material and finish that shockwave had for those areas. I think it's a polished unpainted plastic, but to my eyes it has a neat color changing effect where you get different shades of purple based on the lighting.

I think the truck stripe must've been part of an early coloring draft of his character model. It's used here and there in early Toei appearances (the first commercial, the show's commercial bumper that featured Optimus, a few instances in MtMtE) as well as in AKOM eps like The Autobot Run (AKOM often worked off of early draft character models). The vast majority of the time, however, Prime's cab was stripeless on the show, including The Movie. I am hoping like hell for a stripeless v3 Prime cab.

I love taking shots of my MPs but with v3 on the horizon I've lost nearly all desire to photograph MP-10. It's an awesome and very important figure to be sure, lots of great memories with it and I'm grateful for its existence, but it just feels like a placeholder on my shelf now until the real Optimus arrives! Cannot wait for some epic photoshoots next year!

Yeah it's always puzzled me too. I've never understood the mentality of essentially frequenting threads of figures I wouldn't like or ever buy and complain to everyone it's everything I hate in a toy. Honestly, no-one gives a toss. Ppl just need to buy what they like instead of constantly complaining about what they don't like......

But. I could probably kinda understand a sense of frustration if this Prime (or Sunny, Hound, whatever) were the only options available but we have such an embarrassment of choices the negativity is kinda ridiculous in a spoilt brat kinda way.

Well, to be fair, they are your only option (except Prime) if you are an Official only collector. I can respect the frustration on those people.

But it does get tiresome TBH. TT is not shifting gears again, they saw the light finally.:)

But from the 3P/KO loving crowd?

    It is just insanity.

I mean, it is their time writing unnecessary essays that likely never get any attention from anyone, but hey. Free speech, right?

Actually like it better than I thought I would. Not entirely sold on him yet, will wait to see a painted product/better photos to form a better opinion on it. Love the head sculpt, his shoulders and torso seem a bit narrow/skinny. I’m sure the engineering will be top notch. Looking forward to see what kind if any gimmicks and what accessories they include with him.

Free speech is right but all of the fly-by-night negative comments and half-baked arguments amount to nothing. Every group who's on the underside of changing times will experience proverbial extinction and TT going full toon is no different. I don't blame anybody here for voicing their opinion. Voicing dissatisfaction for an ideal that is going in a direction they're not sure they can follow with 100% conviction. There are moments when one has to get off the bus and for some, the time may be now.

I certainly hope no one here expects TT to toss V3 Prime in the trash can and design another one based on early MP aestethics. I'm loving this new toon direction for Prime, especially the legs. It will be very weird and I may need some time to adjust to a truck without the silver lines after having nearly every Prime previously released having a silver line on the cab. But the trailer is the biggest mystery. TT, "what's in the box?"

I want to build a diorama some day with Autobot and Decepticon MPs charging right at each other and v3 OP and MP36 smack dab in the middle of it!

Yeah, this is the kind of release makes me want to break out the lightbox and DSLR again. I can't wait for September to see some full color shots!

You know what? Why don’t we go and steal the test shot. I don’t want to wait anymore.

Anyways. I probably will not get a second MP Prime V3 so MP 10 will be the “clone” prime. Also, MP-10 and MP Prime V3’s truck mode looks vaguely similar, so it shouldn’t be too big of an issue to me if I get MP Magnus... right?
