I've got a thought, that if Barricade is Decepticon cowboy, Soundwave is Decepticon James Bond.:lol

Well for me it's more of an aesthetic taste; as i said i think the car parts help break up the design and keep it more balanced, especially with how detailed the bayverse designs are. In addition some designs can get pretty creative in how they incorporate the vehicle kibble into robot mode; you don't really get that with the more humanoid designs of the AOE/TLK films. Ultimately though it is down to personal taste; i just happen to prefer the aesthetic of the first 3 films.

I don't have any problem with car-less designs, it's just that they translate into plastic very poorly.

For example, take a look at AOE Optimus, Galvatron, Crosshairs, and Bumblebee. All have so much shellformering that they're essentially $30 Kinder Joys that you can't eat either

The only toys so far to capture the AOE aesthetic without massive backpacks are Challenger and Peru Kill. Challenger looks good while Peru Kill’s sculpting is so bad it makes the $25 SS look ten times better.

    Thanks for the constructive reply:)
Agreed, HasTak AOE TFs are just a shame. You can't put them in any interesting pose! Studio series brought an imrovement. I also like Lockdown from there more than Peru Kill, which has so ugly face!

I think I'm with you. The designs from the first 3 movies are far more "alien" than AoE/TLK. I made a similar argument once that russian fan said about them being on earth for long enough now that they are starting to take on a bot forms that resemble humans more. I like that idea but I think they went a little overkill with Drift, Hound, Crosshairs, and Primes design. They could have done stuff to let the audience know Drift adopted samurai culture without making him look exactly like a samurai from feudal japan. I think they pulled back a bit with Hot Rods design which I thought was great.

Oh boy, he looks dang good. But.... I just hope this isn't TFEVO hot rod 2.0... With fiddly transformation. :/
Other than that. He's impossible to pass on, for DOTM soundwave fan.

Funny, that before AOE a lot of people were complaining, that TFs look TOO alien:lol  People said, that Decepticons are similar to insects, etc. Now they are crazy about Blackout and Soundwave. As much, as I don't like Decepticons in general, I always think that their look is awesome and fits them very good.
Mmm, Drift doesn't look EXACTLY like samurai, he has cute face instead of scary mask, different straight swords and, yeah, a lot of car parts, Bugatty front grill, wheels, etc. It is far from samurai look:D  I don't like Hot Rod's design, nothing interesting except of french hat and googly eyes, which I don't like too.

Well I'm in love with this TMT-01 Sonic, it seems like this 3rd party is scaled with MPM Bee and Barry, it also seems to scale with HA Soundwave.

Indeed I took some pictures in vehicle mode and in robot mode, and I made some measurements to finally conclude that MPM Barry measures feet to head : 17,2cm, MPM Bee measures 16.5cm, HA Soundwave measures 17.4cm and they seem incredibly Movie Accruate, so in conclusion TMT-01 Sonic (approximative 18cm) could be really on scale with these 3 there.

I think that on the picture attached here the MPM Bee is poorly positioned and therefore seems too small, but I am convinced that it would appear greater if it was better positioned.

    Her Scale are arround 1:28

I like this design of Soundwave but never cared for any of the actualized figures. This looks pretty good so far though.
