Really love the look of this version of the mold but i am almost certain the price is going to be out of my budget.

I shouldn't want this as much as I do, especially with his price tag. But I really REALLY want this. : O

Some nice differences between this and the original Lucky Draw. The gold on the LD is more of a dark green here, and this version also has two translucent hands rather than just the one.

For the price they're asking, you'd think they'd at least try to produce a shell for the backside of his planet-mode so it doesn't look half finished.

I still have my Tomy Takara version that came out like in 2012 or 13 after Takara gave him the movie accurate face. I'm good.

1 is enough for me. I dont' need Slimer hanging around my house haunting me.

My worry for mold degradation is there, but I'm wondering how many people will buy this mold even though they have multiples of it? Waste of money in my opinion. 1 is enough.

    I don't have a Supreme Class Unicron.
I want this one, especially since the Mini-Con is going to be Micronus Prime for my collection.

Little to none. It's kept in extremely good condition. Including the retooled versions of it.

One of the main reasons we're not likely to see a new version of this character in a new mold at this scale. Same to Primus.
It's not cost-effective when this one and retools still sell like wildfire.

We're likely to get another release of the TFTM alterations version again sometime in the future.

Devastator was never going to have CW like ports. Devastator's concept isn't on Scramble city style combining. Same to Predaking not being Scramble city style. They would have always been designed to work only with their own teams. Cross play was planned far enough back it would have been used if the characters called for it, but those two in particular it couldn't be. Their original combiner teams never had it, so their modern versions don't either.

Now granted a later Devastator nodding his micromaster version, it's possible. Same if they do the Energon one(though likely won't be made, as that mold is the show model, and PCC is the closest redo we'll get for that). But G1 Devastator for generations was a 'not even considered' since they were aiming to evoke the original toys in combination capabilities. So CW ports existed on the design board, but he was a "not to use for this one" styled combiner, the same as Predaking.

The only one not planned initially for Cross Play was Metroplex. Otherwise he'd have the little pegs for TR feet and ramps to connect to base modes. It was suggested to make some add-on material for it to make it base mode compatible to the others, but there was no feasible way to release that, so instead it was left to other options for those that want it.

Metroplex was planned before those concepts were thought of. Devastator on the other hand was planned with full knowledge of going into CW and the CW port system. Metroplex was planned with the intention of doing Fort Max from him, but the development of CW, & TR concepts to POTP concepts wasn't done yet at the time of Metroplex being made, which didn't matter much for Fort Max since he was going to be a Headmaster either way. TR was line wide because the figures could be done that way. Whereas in CW, the Leader class was going for something else, and wouldn't be compatible in scaling for combined modes. So Hasbro had it "down" for cross play to all. But different points of the trilogy were incremental to slow build up. There's also more to the reasoning on CW Leader class figures, but that really starts straying off topic.

The rest of your point is accurate though. Same reason there's a price spike on this version. Inflation, cost of materials, and labor assembly costs have gone up. His complex inner workings make him more costly to produce as those factors in production have spiked. Leading to a higher MSRP over what he was. Same as you pointed out the simplicity to current titans mostly, with really only Devastator and Predaking standing out as more involved. And in the case of those two, they used heavy cues from their originals on engineering. Same to Trypticon too. Except in their combiner cases, those two could also be easier rationalized on budget to designing 5-6 voyager roughly sized combiners.

What is this? Is it a USA release or out of the states? It’s the full size mold as the first few repaints? Sorry been out of the loop for years.

    Good question!

That'd make for an awesome display if it does.

Takara encore release. For Japanese fans, and those that are willing to import it.
