how cool would it be if a g1 and a movie mp jazz dropped in the same year that would be cool and wild (I know that won't happen but that would be crazy).

I doubt it will happen in the same year but I can at least see an announcement follow the release of the other within a year if that makes sense. MPM-4 was offically released last September and we just received news of v3 MP Prime. I can see something similar happening with Jazz.

I'm more curious to see if MPM Jazz will happen before MP Jazz. I think the G1 purists would foam at the mouth if movie Jazz received a Masterpiece before G1 Jazz.

oh most g1 mp fans would be triggered out of their minds if that happened (personally I like g1 jazz over movie still but I would buy it to be finish a shelf and normally I don't finish a team/collection) but anyways that would be cool to see how mad people will be.

Indeed; I'd rather have Skorponok be separate. Blackout, if he's in scale, may well wind up being big enough anyway that they can afford to have the helicopter interior accurately more-or-less hollow, leaving enough space for Skorponok to hang out anyway. Guess we'll see.

If they do do Skorponok, whether with Blackout or with Frenzy, I'd be interested to see whether he'd transform at all. The original deluxe had a robot mode, but to be frank it was kind of forced. I'd rather he either turn into a dune buggy of some sort, or not transform at all and focus more on articulation.

Yeah I also get more of a kick than I should out of seeing those kind of fans lose it. I don't even mean that as a jab at G1 fans specifically, just any fan who somehow thinks success from another section of the fandom (G1, movie, BW, animated, Unicron trilogy, whatever) is somehow an attack on them personally. Like I'm not that fond of TLK but if the next MPM turned out to be Knight Optimus I wouldn't feel "cheated" out of a 07 character.

Based on the SS leader, I think a Blackout only MPM could be as screen accurate as MPM-3 or MPM-4. As much as I absolutely adore MPM-5, I'm not going to pretend the exposed windshield behind the hips doesn't break the illusion. MPM Prime and Bee are damn near perfect and don't have any visible breaks to remind you that the figures are still transforming toys. RotF leader Prime still had those forearms pins that only became more obnoxious with the large wrist level peg holes for the DotM retool. Battle Blades Bumblebee had massive forearms that still screamed "kid's toy".

I doubt Scorponok or Frenzy are going to transform for the MPM line. Sure their toys did but only as gimmicks for play-ability. We only ever see the two get ejected from the larger "carrier" cons.

As for scale, it is going to be interesting for the MPM line since it is already broken.

Prime is suppose to be 28' while Bee and Barry are both 16'. Bee and Barry are scaled perfectly to each other at about 6" but are too large next to Prime who is 10". Oddly enough the upcoming Ironhide looks about the right size compared to Prime but not compared to Bee.

Assuming the larger bots scale to Prime, 07 Megs would need to be about 12" for scale to work. We already have 12" figures in the MP line so that shouldn't be a problem.

The only thing that completely breaks scale is Grindor. While he uses the same model as Blackout, he is significantly larger. This is why Blackout always gets sighted as a scale problem: everyone thinks of the RotF forest battle where Grindor drawfs everyone else. All reference material from the 07 movie has him about the same size as Starscream.

Well even though Blackout and Grindor use the same model their altmode are technically different with Grindors being bigger

Technically, Scorponok (Skorponok? Whatever, they were never consistent with his name) transforms into some sort of GE Turboshaft engine that detaches from Blackout. Maybe he gets a teeny, tiny engine block mode? Frenzy had a CD player alt. mode in the movie, but only 1 toy was consistent in that regard. I guess we will see. Hope those two DO show up as a two-pack. MPM-11?

Also, my worry of scale pertains to vehicle modes, but honestly, I'm displaying all of these MPs in robot mode for ETERNITY so vehicle scale actually does not matter. At least, to me.

I think I remember hearing somewhere he was supposed to turn into the engine for Blackouts helicoptor mode but I might be mistaken.

    Fingers crossed!

Well, we saw Frenzy transform plenty of times; not so much with Scorponok, thus why I singled him out.

Well, it seems to be in two size categories: Optimus and Ironhide in one, Bee and Barricade in another. I just hope that when they do Blackout, they won't create a third size category for him, and will leave him in scale with Optimus. (Though if not, maybe Third Party can fix that)

    Ah, that's a definite possibility.

I'm worried that an MPM of Frenzy would have to be massive relative to the others for them to be able to make the transformation work. He was long and spindly, while the CD player was very rounded and compact, so they'd have to pull off some real engineering magic.

As long as the relative sizes are kept ill be happy. Have the tank bigger than the semi, the helicopter bigger than the tank, etc. Just as long as we don't get movie 1 toy scaling where Optimus is a leader, Blackout is a voyager, and Bonecrusher is a deluxe.

I've always thought they could have added so much more to the movie with a little dialogue. Have Megatron and Starscream squabble during the final battle up until the air strike. Starscream takes out the first jets, Megatron says something over coms to tick off Starscream, and Starscream drops back and let's the last jet through. Wouldn't have needed any different footage, just more dialogue, and it would have added so much story.

I wouldn't necessarily want them to be accurate if it compromises scale. It would be nice, but it's probably along the lines of wishful thinking. Hell, he can just be an attachment to MPM-5 for all I care, as long as he doesn't tower over anyone.

Agree with you, be it MPM Jazz or MP Jazz, both these are what we all are looking forward to, pray hard TakaraTomy and Volkswagen will resolve their issue internally regards to Porsche brand name.

I just realized that I am guilty of this mistake. Grindor's like 50 feet tall or whatever the exact scale was in ROTF. There's never a good reference for Blackout with any other Transformer in the movie. Blackout's a bit like Ironhide. Both of their vehicle modes are HUGE (compared to fellow Bots or Cons), but their bot modes are stubby and shorter than you would expect.

And in reference to MPM-3 and MPM-6's scale, Bee's not too far off. Ironhide is leaning back or slouching in a lot of the comparison shots I have seen, so that could also make the scale between the two look wonky. It still could be broken, for all we know. Either Prime is too short, or Bee and Barricade are too tall. I agree more with the former personally.

I would absolutely laugh my ass off if MPM Jazz came out before MP Jazz.

And at this rate it’s looking likely to happen.

Bite your tongue! They better not stop after the original 5. I want MPMs of my two favourite movie designs:
