Do you think Takara will do a +Soundwave? Not that I want to rebuy that mold or think its meeded, but just wondering what we think is enough that they would give an existing figure the + treatment.

from a distance those are exactly what I want in a swipe and alert mold. They're phenomenal looking toys for sure. Too bad I've decided to swear off 3P. Congrats on a stellar line up of Lambos tho.

 

Toyhax clear cartoon. Can't find cartoon style Autobot decals, only Decepticon (which Breakdown is sporting)

They're both excellent imo. Not your usual nightmare Badcube affairs and both quite intuitive. They both follow Takara Sunstreaker's lead and have opening headlights and doors too. Red Alert has the option of clear headlights or cartoon white and Sideswipe has a collapsing chest so he's narrower in robot mode so as a package they're everything Takara failed to do. Both extremely cartoon in style and the built in rocket launchers are a nice touch.

That being said I can only imagine how amazing Takara could do them if they went all out and threw in ab crunches and wrist pivots but since they've both already had a + repaint I think they've shown their hand already.

 

Eh, I think some of us believe they'll do a Soundwave + if (or when) they reveal a Masterpiece Blaster somewhere in the future.

Actually, a Soundwave + that did what Hasbro did and have all the cassettes (and Ratbat) together would be totes awesome.

But when a non exclusive MP comes out, most people take what BBTS asks for as the “retail price” for said MP. And they willingly buy from them knowing better options are available.

I mean, if what you want is to contribute to American companies, then Amazon is one. I don’t mind making Bezos millions, he’s a cool cat. I appreciate his company.

At the end, we as consumers have a choice. I simply pick the one that works for me and leaves me $$$ to do other cool stuff with my family in the meantime.

With how easy it is, how fast, and how customer service driven amazon JP is, it simply baffles me people choosing the more expensive and slow option.

 

The other issue is that the 30% off msrp amazon price is not real either.

Its only for those who jump on preorders early on. So if someone wants to buy the figure not too lond after its released, they are going to pay a lot closer to Takara’s msrp. When you include shipping and the conversion rate, it’s probably not too far off from the price places like bbts sell them at.

Also, Amazon JP is a bit of a new thing. This wasn’t an option until the time of MP36 or so IIRC

 

Most places keep the preorder discount (HLJ and maybe AMIAMI now) or some percentage of it. Depending on how much of demand there is places like NY will jack up the price far past MSRP.

 

Which of those places are actually easy to request a return or exchange if there is an issue with your product though?

 

Actually, AmazonJP MPs have been dropping down even cheaper a week after they're released.

 

Thing is, there's little to no reason to wait to preorder on Amazon Japan. You're not charged until it ships, just like Amazon US. So might as well preorder ASAP to get whatever ends up being the lowest price for it. And you can cancel it up until about a week before release, if need be, hassle-free. Some MPs have lost most or all the discount (or even gone higher yet in price, in a couple cases) after release, but that's just one more reason to preorder and be done with it. Again, why wait? Reviews? I suppose that's a fair reason, but barring any major QC issues, you should know what to expect from a TT MP.

And it is a newer source, but I did get about 3 or so MPs preordered through AJ before Megatron. I wanna say Grapple, Inferno, and maybe Ratchet. So it became an option at some point in 2016 I believe.

Not an interest of mine, but I've noticed Dinobot has been quite increasing in price the past week, and I think maybe even during the last 2-3 weeks of preorders. But that's one of the rarer cases. Still, if I were into the BW MPs, I'd be ordering BW Megatron sooner than later, just in case.
