I actually liked the original colour scheme of the sword, perhaps because it was pretty much what I was expecting. The new one will take some getting used to.

Yeah, Volcanicus should have been a Titan. It's weird that a Dinobot combiner would be smaller than a jungle animal combiner. I'm hoping for an OS Volcanicus as well, and Abominus, too.

Only Devastator and Raiden were Diaclone releases, the actual Scramble City combiners were released in Transformers first. In the case of Predaking he was made by a different designer, but was still a Transformers release, never an import.

Doesnt matter who they were first released by. What matters is who made the created the molds and sold the rights to Hasbro. They are unreleased Diaclone products. The torso molds even interact with G1 metroplex supposedly for a planned diaclone gimmick that Hasbro didnt roll with in their storyline.

Ah! Thank you. That's exactly what I wanted/needed to know. So, basically a freelancer created the Predacons in their famous forms and Hasbro/Takara produced it. So it's not actually an outsider project like Sky Lynx, Omega Supreme and Shockwave.

See, this is why I like to have facts and not continue to spread misleading info. Thank you.

Not at all what I was talking about.

You said the combiners and Predaking were from a hodge podge of other toylines, I'm telling you they're not. No idea what you're arguing about now.

    You're welcome bro.
Maybe they got a screw loose.

Hands down the best Predaking choice on the market with the add on.  This one can actually pose, AND the entire figure cost less than two 3rd party figures AND its actually Predaking.

It can use some work on the individual bots obviously, but for the price, the only other option is oversized Fero Monk or whatever the hell, assuming the damn thing can stand up!

Yeah, I'm pretty impressed now. I think this guy will be replacing my oversized Feral Rex. The proportions are just way better, and probably the stability as well. Of course, he'll pretty much never come out of combined mode, but that's what I've got Ares for, who is, coincidentally, completely useless in combined mode.

Well you quoted my post about Predakings proper scale so one would assume you were fact checking me.

Dont take it the wrong way, but I just find it hard to believe a guy with a TFW account posting on a Predaking thread doesnt know anything about the character. I guess anything is possible but wow...

Yes they are. I meant pre 1986 transformers in general. You had Diaclone, Microman, Macross, not to mention other molds from Bandai (or whoever created the deluxe insecticon molds and predacon molds) Hasbro atarted buying rights to every transformable robot they could get their hands on and created a fiction for them. It wasnt until 1986 that Hasbro decided to create their own molds based on the molds tgey bought. Computron and Abominus are great examples of how Hasbro borrowed cwrtain concepts from scramble city molds.

Superion, Bruticus, Defensor, Menasor, and Metroplex were intended for but never produced takara diaclone figures that were part of the unreleased Jizai Gattai line, Takara realized it just made more sense to make them exclusively as transformers only. Trypticon shows engineering that he might also be a part of Jizai Gattai which explains the combiner ports much like metroplex that are never really advertised in their instructions. This latter continued into Computron and Abominus using the same engineering.

The deluxe insecticons were made by Takatoku originally for Armored Insect Battalion Beetras, a short lived anime.

Predaking, as strange and as different as his design was, wasn't purchased from another company, his strange design comes from the designer Akitaka Mika who only made Predaking and then left Takara to work for Bandai sometime after Bandai tried sueing Takara based on the similarities between Predaking and Bandai's Dartanius.

I don't know the outcome of the lawsuit but after looking up what Dartanius looks like I'll let you be the judge lol.

I thought Beetras was Takatoku Toys who went bankrupt and bought by Bandai?

Interesting tibits there. Ive always wondered how the line came to be. I see Hasbro as being more of a mastermind or puppet master until 1986 when they started creating their own molds. The one thing the Japanese toys lacked was personality. Hasbro brought a continuity to the table. They really made a gumbo of toy robots by different designers seem like one universe.

No worries. My original post must have been confusing. I was aware of the basics but not the full details of the orgins of the molds.
