I also got mine from TFSource. NO tape.

 

thanks for all the replies guys - i also heard back from "netclow" and found out what's going on:

Products sold in China, there is no tape
Because I need to sell to the world, so I asked them some products provide the tape
I told them that some overseas customer complaint me, they said no tape products, toys are not new.So I let them provide me with the product must have the tape."


...so it looks like the tape is from the factory after all, and that "netclow" is the only one currently being supplied with taped boxes. i've asked him to request that Iron Factory use a clearer tape though, 'cuz the yellow is really ugly! =)

 

Just to add my own experience here - all of my netclow Iron Factory stuff has had that yellow-ish tape (I just take it off completely). Stuff I've received from baba has not been taped. It's been a while since I've ordered anything IF from anyone else so I can't remember if those were taped or not, but I sort of always had this impression that Iron Factory stuff usually isn't taped.

 

This whole tape/no tape thing is just one more example to me of how it's impossible to please anyone in this fandom. People apparently complained to netclow because there was no tape, and so he asked IF to do him a solid and add tape. So then people start going "why is there tape on here, are you pulling something on me?" or "yes tape, but different color please and thank you." Why would he even bother catering to this kind of thing is my question. I mean, I suppose it's a bit odd that IF is alone in not "sealing" their boxes. But on the other hand, if you get the toy, and if everything is in it and there's no issues, who cares if it had tape on it or not? It's not even a question of "proving" it was a new figure. If you bought from anyone, whether on a retail site or on eBay, and it wasn't specifically described as used/second hand/opened then the presumption is that it was offered as new and complete so you're covered for a return anyway.

My package from netclow is taking an unusually long time - "processed through customs" in LA a week ago and nothing since. I'm starting to worry it got lost.

 

Nah, it just got hung up getting tape put on it.

 

Hang in there. Mine sat in customs since July 27, was delivered today. Had an inspection sticker. Just one of those thangs. Super happy with “Ted Alert” here, he looks and feels great.

 

Bothering Netclow, -who gives us the best deal on IF and bothers to seal the boxes about the tape that he uses is beyond petty, I had no idea that was where this was going.

I have received used IF product from another seller which really made question the practice of un-sealed boxes. Netclow is awesome for taking care of this problem. We should be thanking him.

In fact, in light of some of you I will write him a note right now.

I'm glad people have a way to get taped boxes. Personally I like it without, because onon the tape has been cut it looks messy. This way the boxes can be opened and look pristine.

 

I think if you pay $30+ wait 3 weeks and get something used put nicely back in the box, you might reconsider.

Yeah looks like it is out for delivery today. Just took an unusually longer amount of time is all.

 

Mine took a really long time too, in fact I am only scheduled to get it today.

 

so i got a few more replies from netclow about this...

when asked about possibly changing the tape ('cuz the yellow is so ugly):

"In fact, I prefer overseas customers to accept no tape.I will ask them to provide white tape."


...and when asked about having Iron Factory simply putting tape on ALL their products from now on:

"I sell the products overseas, I must ask the factory to provide tape, and the products without tape will be sold in China. This is my personal request.
Because the if factory product is not taped, but on ebay, some of my customers complain that the toy is not taped and cannot guarantee that the toy is brand new.So other Chinese sellers get them from Chinese agents, they don’t provide tape."


so basically, sounds like netclow will be our go-to-guy (and possibly only way) to get true MISB (and actually sealed!) Iron Factory products from now on - this is great news!
