Scaling based on cerebros, 3 feet is perfectly accurate, and IMO, not out of the realm of possibility. Same for scorponock

Where did you find that image? Are there more illustrations from the same source?

It's some 1990's Japanese Magazine I'm pretty sure. It's possible it could be the 1997 copy of The Super Robots Chronicles but I'm not certain on that, I don't have a copy of it. I just know that book quotes Fortress Maximus as 9,800 feet tall or something close to that. Fortress Maximus is also ridiculously large in the show as well.

Here you can see Chromedome exiting Fortress Maximus from the front portion which becomes his foot, which lines up in scale to the above chart rather ok.

Here you can see Arcee, Kup, Hot Rod, etc all standing outside of a portion of Fortress maximus and they are dwarfed by him.
    Autobots outside MAX.PNG

Also all the headmasters are shown to be about twice the height of the standard cast of autobots like the above scale chart shows

There is always room for animation error, which is why I think people basing things like scale and toy accuracy off the show is a disaster, I mean just before this scene Kup is literally crotch height to cerebros (I really don't care for toon accuracy too much), but the above scale chart seems to be fairly accurate. Now I haven't watched all of headmasters in forever, idk if any titans ever stood side by side with Fortress Maximus, but it's pretty clear he was intended to be absolutely massive. In the cockpit scenes where all the headmasters are in the interior of Fortress while in battleship mode the interior looks pretty damn roomy, and these bots are bigbois taking up twice the space or more than your standard autobots.

Sorry about the crummy picture quality, they were just quick screengrabs from youtube.

Simple solution for those that like scale....don't base your decision from cartoon stills. Disaster avoided. Use the scale chart instead. That was easy!

Hmmm likely shorter as a consequence of the original toys' transformation.

Is that an official scale chart or some shit a fan threw together? In the Headmasters series they were the same size

In that scene. The cartoon has already been shown to be ridiculously inconsistent.

I just rewatched the whole series. They're pretty consistantly the same size, along with fortress. There may be a few instances where perspective makes them seem taller or shorter, but any time they're next to each other they're equal height. Maybe if you go by the shit-tacular season 4 US versions they vary though.

I can buy Hardhead and Chromedome being say half a head taller (with the smaller ones being closer to some of the Targermasters) -but I was actively surprised to see Highbrow that much shorter.

I think considering how positive the response to the Titans Returns Decepticon Targetmasters was - that one of the 3rd Parties would be jumping on things like Needlenose, Quake, Spinister, Triggerhappy and so on by now.

Not just because they have appealing alt modes and a fun gimmic but because it's a logical extension of The preexisting Cyclonus and Scourge Offerings. But no I don't see the need to be "to slavish" to the scale chart when if there is a height difference it's more and accident of the toys original Transformations being carried over - than an intentional desire to say these two must be shorter.

That is so typical of Hasbro to just skemp on their products like Titans Return Highbrow, clearly the MakeToys version has hinges so the arm wings can be folded back to give him a cleaner look but the Hasbro version they stick out too far.And for that MakeToys gets my vote for best G1 Accuracy,You Now Suck Hasblo.

    That scaling, seriously?

As far as I'm concerned Metroplex should be bigger than Fort Max

On all of the Autobot Headmasters, Maketoys absolutely kills the G1 Japanese toon look. Also Pointblank (Contact Shot) is amazing as well.
