messed with both willis and gundog back in the day, and wasn't wowed by either. glad there's another option on the way, as it will probably have an interesting transformation, which the other two lacked.

also: wheeljack+ is the first plus release I've been interested in and the replacement to the godawful mp10 is looking fantastic.

 

TT "hired" FT's old face sculpt designer i.e. "Hasui" has quit FT and moved back to TT!!!

So Hasui has returned as the designer for TT MP line? Where did you read this? Is TT Hound his first project since his return?

Visually, the only advantage TT Hound has over Willis is the correctly colored thighs and face that matches the G1 toon. I'd like to see more carbots from FT.

 

I hope since TT didn’t release a prior version that this (and a potential Jazz) will have the toon style blue tint window from the outset rather than it being something they’ll add to a revision down the road

 

Yeah, I just like the way Willis looks better. If I can buy an official for cheap, I will... but not really stressing about it. I'd also be down to pick up a Gundog for cheap instead, since Willis and official are toon style and my alternate MP display is toy centric.

I feel like Willis empirically looks better in not more. Official will probably have a better transformation but I'm more of a displayer than a player.

To some extent. To me it’s more that the takara face is too small relative to the helmet

 

I really hope they still reissue Willis. Hound is one of my favorite characters, and I plan on picking up a FT and a TT to go with my MT Gun Dog and *shudders* TFC Detective.

I actuually really like the Takara clean toon look on their newer figures. As a kid who grew up with the cartoon and never really owned any of the toys, that's what hits my nostalgia.
But I do think Takara's looks a lot like Willis.
I'd be curious to see Willis painted (or even digibashed) into a similar "anime" deco and how similar they would end up being? I suspect Takara's will havre a very different transformation though.
At this stage, I'll keep Willis and I may end up getting a KO of Takara's if/when its made.

I'm actually considering getting the KO's of any of the Anime styled and "Plus" editions that end up being done., because I just really like the way they look with the cleaner, simpler paint. I can see I'm going to end up with KO's of most of the Autobot carbots (including Sunstreaker hopefully) as well as original or 3P versions of the same.
I can see myself ending up with at least a partial alt mode collection as my original's and 3P's get transformed and displayed in vehicle mode next to KO's of the anime styled official stuff.
Man, what a mess MP collecting is becoming.
