    Hi All,

I am thinking about painting the hip plates of KBB Starburst red, to match the other reds on the figure. It's something I have been kicking around for awhile now.

Does anyone know what color might match closest to the reds on the figure?!

In the past, I've always used Testors paints. But, that was years ago... the industry standard may have changed.

Is there a preferred brand for painting on the plastic?

Thanks for any assistance that can be provided!!

    Cheers!!

Still Loving my KBB Starburst!! Just wish the figure had red side hip-plates.

But just look at this figure's delusions of grandeur!!

First, he takes over as Decepticon leader...

    IMG_20180703_202757~3.jpg

Then, he proves he's a man of the people by taking out the trash!!

    IMG_20180703_204523~3.jpg

After that, he singlehandedly defeats the Autobots...

Sure, it might be nice if his lower abdomen still tabbed well into the crotch area... but then I would probably be purchasing the YesModel version, or maybe a Maketoys Meteor...

...and at this point I am committed to Starburst's shortcomings!!

If I recall correctly. @OptimusTimelord did this with the official, so maybe he can help.

There's another auction for KBB but it shows YM Skywarp. Either way, I just got mine in and I'm returning it.

    Psychedelic Seekers...

Something along the lines of... Andy Warhol meets Shogu Hasui or Shōji Kawamori.

It worked for Marilyn... and a can of soup...

Not sure if it works here, but what the heck.

I think @Bots and Bits mentioned something about YM running into funding problems and that's why production as slowed to almost a grinding halt.

Can anyone tell me how to remove panels that are glued in place without damaging them? I'm still trying to take apart KBB Skyward's right shoulder and I can't get that panel off to get to the screw that holds it together. If anyone has some advice about this, I would really appreciate it. I want to fix this thing up finally. Thanks. :)

You're going to have to find some kind of solvent that dissolves the glue or softens it enough to allow you to remove that panel. You can always try the hot water trick...but that may take a while and I don't think it's guaranteed if they used too much glue. It's a really small and thin panel so if they used too much glue to put it in place, well...it's either impossible without damage to the part, or you're going to mess up the part.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of using an X-Acto knife, but I guess I have a $90 broken toy with replacement parts I can't even use...

You can try the x-acto, but be careful with it. Try to get it wedged in there and see if you can pry it off. But again, be careful. Don't slice your finger up over a toy :lol

I got offered the three KBB coneheads for 160$. Toon accuracy to me is small potatoes and realisticly speaking, I dont give a damn about them character wise. I just want them to beef up the Decepticon shelf. Yay or nay?

Did Yes Model/BB7 close up shop? I remember @Bots and Bits saying something about them having some financial issues a while back.

For set and forget they're great. For fiddling I'd say they're a bit delicate. The bodies are ok but the finger broke off one of mine and the ball joint for null rays cracked on another.
