That's exactly what I was trying to say before. While I certainly think that, due to it's vocal nature, the BW fans think they're a much bigger piece of the puzzle than they are, I don't think it's to the extreme that the die-hard BW fans are going to twist my statement into, as if I was saying it's only a handful.
I think it's a combination of a smaller fan base and, more importantly, a fandom that hadn't yet hit that sweet spot of nostalgia and spending money - 25th Anniversary timeframe would seem to be more in that area.

Ik. Even though i don't treat either Warden like a saint, Beast Wars needs a proper return.

Grats, BW fans. Sounds like 2021 is when I take a much needed break. Happy for you guys but I thought BW was the death of Transformers, and I still dont think highly of the series to this day. So I won't be supporting this in any way unless they sprinkle in some G1 beasties in it. Sounds like a good time for Seacons as it doesn't seem like they'd be a fit for the WfC trilogy.

well for starters I only want people who showed up in ONE of the beast shows , USA or JAPAN and that includes Beast Machines. I think the one that needs it the MOST is a proper NIGHTSCREAM from Beast Machines.

Trying to make a list but everything just seems so out of scale for what is left.

In any case, I still hope for a Deluxe Terrorsaur and Scorponok.

Because BW fans are loud as hell. That's not a bad thing; just means that Hasbro listens.

Technically, they were. Well, the period leading up to BW was definitely a Dark Age for Transformers. Maybe that's what he meant? Beast Wars definitely revived the franchise; I don't disagree with that. Probably meant it as a joke and people took it to be a legit dislike. That seems to be the sole piece of evidence that John Warden hates BW. For all we know, he's hamstrung by others.

You seem to have it backwards. 1994 was the death of Transformers. No new toys. No new comics. No new cartoon.

Beast wars is what saved the Transformers from extinction. And beast machines, rid, and the unicron trilogy, kept the brand alive and profitable enough for Paramount to gamble a shit ton of Hollywood money to make the movies and make the brand a household name again.

And yes 80s nostalgia picked up around this point and reinforced the brand. We were hitting a sweet spot where children of the 80s were hitting their late 20s/early 30s and earning enough money to sustain a property based on their nostalgia.

The economy hasn't been nearly as friendly to the beast wars kids.

(In case you're wondering, I'm somewhere in the middle. Born in 85, g1 had an effect on my early childhood. And my teenage years were spent with the Beasties.)

It's so amazing to me that the 2 iterations of the franchise responsible for its long term/ continued success are the most reviled (BW, Bayverse).

Mostly because the lonely misanthropes that frequent the message boards of sci fi franchises tend to think that hating something that's popular makes them look like some kind of intellectual Adonis.

Of course. The person or people whom decides what a fictional plot, object, place, or character are the person or people on the creative team that made said fictional plot, object, place, or character. Anyone looking on to it doesn't get to decide what it is. That's Fiction 101.
That's what companies like this must do by necessity. Development is a long process. The toys on shelves right now are the product of years of development.

    25th Anniversary...

    Damn I am old...

Anyways that is great news because Hasbro has all but forgotten about Beast Wars.
Although I am concerned, Transformers is going through this big rewind through G1 - Beast Wars that I hope thats not going to be the status quo forever.

I mean nothing wrong with doing something dare I say...original.

Even if he made "the dark ages" joke (which is not even really an insult as it's not entirely inaccurate to how we can view the state of the TF franchise in the early internet world of 1996), no where did he or anyone else at Hasbro ever say they hated Beast Wars and didn't care about the fans.

In fact this interview proves the opposite yet again, and the idea of the poor forgotten Beast Wars fan is proven again to be utter nonsense.
