I'm beginning to think Hasbro isn't clueless they simply don't want the headache. On one hand people would complain how Hasbro should be making stuff like this and then turn around and demand it be under $100 if they did.

One reason, her name is Road Rage.

Tracks was 7500 Yen, Road Rage was 7000 Yen. Yes, she didn't include the flight stand or Raoul, but she did still include Twincast, plus a brand new gun, new hands, biceps, upper chest, head and thighs. She was a pretty heavy remould for a less popular character repaint, and she did not sell well. Even now she's still available from HLJ (despite numerous sales).

So now Takara have gone the opposite way. They're not going to 'gift' anything for these less popular repaints. If people really want them, they'll have to pay a bit extra, justifying any extra parts. That way TT can produce less of them but still make the same profit, and certainly have better results than they did with MP-26.

Listen to this man, he's saying we are being punished for skipping a shitty product. I am typing this right now from the confessional booth.

He was a TTMall exclusive so was priced a little higher. Road Rage was a regular retail release.

I could have sworn the U.S. etailers were charging the same price for him as the original ($79.99)

    I did.
    They are working in it.

Hasbro aren't dumb. They know if offered the chance to buy Takara or Hasbro at the same price at the same time for the same product we'd buy local. And they're working in doing that.

If they'll get there is another matter but they know we're here, if MP continues I'm sure it will be more alligned.

That's just a sign that US retailers charge a lot for regular releases vs Hasbro Asia exclusives, or else perhaps the currency exchange improved in favour of the dollar between the release of MP-18 and MP-18B.

MP-18B was 8000 Yen through TTMall, MP-18 was 6500 Yen.

By “if MP continues” do you mean Hasbro releasing MP for the US market? The MP line proper is obviously continuing.

With this being released in the beginning of 2019, I wish there was another BW character at the end of 2019.

Yeah that came a little overdramatic, I should have said more like "as MP continues" I think I projected a little of my own "I want more G1 waaaa!" bias into that ;)

Haha, okay, that makes sense. :)

I’m really hoping we have a strong G1 year ahead of us. In the meantime, I’m enjoying all the fantastic G1 MPs that I have.

Yeah, honestly this announcement is pretty conflicting for me. It's great to see TT put the effort into releasing something so out there for them, but at the same time it makes me look back at all the wasted potential on the G1 end. As someone who's not a huge fan of G1 but buys every MP, I'm left wondering why we're going on our 3rd version of OP when we could be getting a lot more of the bigger, more fun bots.

I get that cars sell because they're cheaper and there's a bigger market, but I would love to just have a new, weird TF every once in a while to have them fight.

I feel like we'll at the very least get a repaint 2nd or 3rd quarter next year... And the big tease for Q2 2020 during the spring/summer months of 2019 maybe. Just going off of what they did last year. Cheetor in February, Supreme Commander version of Primal in June...
So hopefully Megatron in February, Grimlock in June/July, maybe Burning Convoy?? :D
Haha unless they give us Night Prowler?
They need to pump out some smaller ones so the repaint game is easier to afford. Hell Rattrap and Terrorsaur a year apart would make for an awesome Fractyl and Packrat somewhere in there...

Per @oku, just in case you want to lock down the price of Beast Wars Megatron at Amazon.jp at today's exchange rate, you can purchase Amazon JP's gift certificate and apply it to your purchase.

Can the exchange rate get better? Of course, but it can get worse too. I am not doing it yet, but just in case people want to do it and get some peace of mind, then this seems to be the best option.

Yeah no worries. I might do a couple of transactions:
    1. 5000 Yen at current exchange rate
    2. 5000 Yen, at 114,
    etc, etc.

There's nothing that says you have to get the whole thing at a certain price. But anyway, thanks for bringing this up to our attention.
