Of course not. It will be more!!! So much more!!! This figure is truly the litmus test for how much you really love the brand. If you don't buy this at whatever price they ask, it means a number of things: you hate Transformers and you hate truth and justice!!!!

I'm expecting the same price as MP-43, anticipating that it could cost a little more. Depends on how awesome they make his trailer.

    35th anniversary, ¥35,000.

Considering we have no other new G1 moulds on the horizon, I'm happy to budget for what promises to be a great release.

Thanks to @Cheebs and my man Soundwaves Oblivion for doing most of the work, I just needed some kind of visualisation of this:

I hope it promises to be a great release. Always weary of their QC. So I can’t put all my eggs in one basket.

As my man @Dean ML plans to do, for those who want doubles of this Optimus Prime it might be worth picking up the second copy in the second run - 'cause you know this boy's gonna have multiple reissues. That's what he and a few folk did for Megatron, and I believe the reissue of MP-36 was a little tighter all round.

I hear you on QC, though. My first-run Megatron came out of the box with scuffs on his helmet. Still love him to bits, I'll pick up another copy down the line to have all pristine, but I've never been against a little wear and tear on my TFs - just like my G1 originals!

Seeing this Megatron makes me believe will get toon / toy colors of Galvatron......which I would buy in a heartbeat. I wonder how they would handle the gray of the toy color, metallic, pearlescent, or a nice matte gray.

People still don't know the difference between Hasbro and Takara in 2018? Really?

lol. I assume he was connecting the two with the recent brand unification. Them releasing Prowl + simultaneously, no differences in mainline releases etc. I don't think it's a stretch that this MP Prime is released stateside by Hasbro like all the other Prime MPs. So with the recent brand blah blah is it really that much a stretch to release them side by side?

If I could have a toy deco Megs and Toy deco Prime only, I would be complete. Yin and yang, good and evil, balance. At this point I only have MP Sunstreaker...total. Sold everything else. Sounds odd I know. I used to be a completist, but life intervenes and priorities change. Not abandoning the hobby, just rethinking my direction. It gets costly really quick.

It is pretty crazy to think that the company most people associate with TransFormers is Hasbro. But the best and most popular line of all time has no input from them and they pretend it doesn't exist. The line that dominates fan discussion and anticipation gets not even a passing mention at the most popular PR event of the year. This is the world we live in, where Beast Wars characters constantly win polls but not a single Beast Wars MP is scheduled to be released here. It's pathetic. Every third party owes their existence solely to Hasbro. Even Optimus Prime is just ignored.

Can you imagine if TakaraTomy got to lead an SDCC panel and reveal and discuss the kind of product they work on? Hasbro would be beyond embarrassed.

Seriously ? Yeah I know the difference . Way to assume I have no clue as to what I’m talking about . Obviously Hasbro won’t release him as a 35th prime . A new Masterpiece Optimus Prime though is something I can see Hasbro releasing . With the brand unification why wouldn’t they bring that mold here anyways ?

While we're waiting for the color photos, here's a slightly cleaned up version of my digibash with the colors leaning towards TFTM and a toon autoboot logo. I still can't get my chrome to look as good as cheebs. Wheeljack mentioned that windshield chest not being flush with the top of the body. I think they may have did this to duplicate the look of his shoulders sitting slightly below the top of the cab in the cartoon.

Dude your bashes are my favorite. Looking at that second pic, this Prime could still be more animation accurate and I for one am glad he isn’t. The blue crotch component should be slightly larger but I’m extremely thankful it isn’t as it would look stupid just like it does in the cartoon.

Hey thanks. Yeah I think Takara has the magic sauce of being extremely toon accurate but not making the bots look cartoony. I thought ironhide really captured that look.

Sure. Maybe they'll bring him over in 3 or 5 years.

But Takara hasn't even publicly debuted it other than a single greyscale shot in a hobby magazine. You were honestly expecting to let them have Hasbro do the honors at a convention on the other side of the planet while their target audience was still sleeping?
