Also, there was a guy crowdfunding a Cobra Sentinel. They shut that down a couple of days later.

To be fair, he did market it as a "GI Joe Cobra Sentinel"

You can understand why Hasbro went after that campaign:
1- they did not even try to call it something else, GI Joe Cobra Sentinel is as asking for legal trouble.
2- it's GI Joe Hasbro's bread and butter (at least use to) iconic flagship line.
3- the piece trying to get funded is also a walking trademarked Cobra symbol (I would of taken at least five myself).

So far every campaign using trademarked Hasbro names gets shut down, as one would expect.

I believe they even had a stretch goal of a carded Major Bludd that even had the Cobra the enemy on the card. That's asking to be shutdown.

I was able to pledge for a Renegade set. I'll be picking up the rest as they come out.

Also, shoutmout to MAAS Toys' Twitter people. They helped make sure my pledge got through and responded to me almost immediately after I asked for their help.

What are the two stretch goal figures, they don't have any pics. The 80000 one is reached. They are Conehead repaints

Sounds like a Gap in the Market to me for someone perhaps back in the Day there was sites focused on the Beast Wars / Beast Machines Universe.
So It seems like there is a number of ways to approach a "3rd Party" / KO Fan site.

For example ; Some of the ways and reasons it appeals to me personally are ways that are perhaps significant ways to warrant and entire site theme.

    For example :
    1) Weapons and Accessories (there already exists entire sites for 3rd party Lego accessories)
    2) The G1 Angle - People like 3rd party as a means to complete or complement a G1ish MP collection
    3) The IDW comics Angle - this is on display from the likes of SXS or MMC
    4) Size matters ; The whole Legends and Legends Plus + interest or indeed the whole Overscale KO thing.
    5) Generic robots that do cool stuff - or a site that deals with anything that has a robotic theme with a Transformation or combination play pattern.

Though one might want to host it in somewhere like Norway that won't allow as much external interferance.

TFW ghettoises 3rd party (likely to no upset Hasbro) but there is some of us who barely pay any attention to official Hasbro Products anyway - and there is nothing stopping someone doing the reverse and having the 3rd party as the front paged stuff and the focus and Official as the thing hidden away in a corner.

I wonder - since the 3rd party facebook groups don't usually last more than 5 minutes perhaps it's in their interest to promote something like this themselves - perhaps a store like Robot Kingdom or an individual like Ben of Ben's Collectables is the sort of person something like that could coalese around.

Just a thought anyway - in regard to promotion.

    ___

I'm glad Maas toys squeeked past the deal I've bought some of their products before so I look forward to these too.

(I'm still not feeling the feet on the Rapido though)

Pledged for Wraith. After seeing the proto at TFCon I definitely want to see this done.

But even so, there was an element of risk for MAAS that Hasbro could shut it down. Better to avoid that completely.

    MAYBE...

More importantly if they used Kickstarter the site gets a cut, meaning they would need to increase the goal, and would not have allowed them to adjust the end date OR take donations at TFcon that put them over the too!

Kickstarter would have killed this campaign.

The Coneheads (or Pointmen as they call them) were originally stretch goals, but they opened them up to the regular campaign halfway through. They were planning on making all of the coneheads, even if the stretch goals weren't made. The only difference is that the coneheads were available to purchase as part of the crowdfund rather than waiting to purchase at retail.

I’m totally ok with them not billing us yet. I thought they said requests would go out in August?

Quick question, has anyone received an invoice for the crowdfunding? The backer mail states
But I never received a follow up invoice from them.

I asked MAAS about the timing of the campaign a couple of weeks ago here is their reply from Facebook. I've bolded the part about paying.
