Except you could make the argument that all things TFs are juvenile since they are based on you know, cartoons and toys. I would argue that BW/ BM was muh more mature than the original G1 toon.

Also, the disguise part was not the primary factor for the animal alt modes - story wise. Their purpose was to shield them from the toxic effects of their environment

 

Listen. A lot of my friends think my beloved TFTM is a pile of shite, and we laugh about it. So long as opinions are never voiced vindictively (which mine on this subject are not) or with the intent of putting others down, the trick is not to take offence so easily, or let adverse opinions hurt our feelings. Or else what? Others have to lie, walk on eggshells, or self-censor at every turn?

I also never suggested G1 didn't have its faults. It's drowning in them. One day, someone will make the ultimate drinking game out of "spot the wrong insignia!" that is rampant in the Sunbow.  

 

You're right, the purpose of your post wasn't to diss BW, it's more just that your original comment used the word juvenile, which is usually a negative word. If you have no problem admitting that G1 was juvenile too then I guess it's all good  

 

But... BW sucks in regards to "robots in disguise".

Who were they disguised from, as humans weren't around?

Love that it kept the franchise alive so we could be where we are today, but come on... it wasn't what transformers itself set out to be; disguised from the norm that is "us".

Just give me another g1 reveal, and i'll crawl back into the comfortable hole under the rock I call my ark.

 

This is the exact thing that makes me love fandom, despite constantly being shown that we’re not equal to our love of whatever we enjoy so much.

When people realize that they can enjoy two things, or that they don’t have to back some ridiculous sides of what’s the best like the sort of Batman vs. Superman nonsense or Star Wars vs. Star Trek, it really makes for a greater fun for themselves. Honestly, whenever I see people in here hating on one set or the other, it just bums me out. They’re cutting off their own nose to spite their face.

Beast Wars never used 'robots in disguise' as its slogan. That doesn't have to be what Transformers is about. It's a neat aspect, but one of the cool things about BW is we can just focus on the Transformers rather than the human characters (where I feel the Bay movies went wrong).



Going back to Hound, he's certainly been rumoured since at least last September. Who knows what's going on there, as much as I wanted v3 Prime I didn't want there to be no new carbots this year - thought that was the one thing we could always count on.

Maybe they'll make up for that with two next year  

 

Watch the cartoon . They explain what there beast forms were used for . It was more for there own protection then anything.

 

While we have a ton of reprints and reissues, we have only one new release this year from Takara.

If you count Takara/Hasbro MPMs, then we have three new releases.

We’ve had zero new G1 releases, which sucks. Hopefully, Takara releases 2 new G1 carbots in 2019 to coincide with V3 Prime.

Still, that's why I said smaller, rather than small.   And I agree that a Sharkticon/Gnaw MP could easily be as high as $140, but I'd be okay with that!   (Yes, yes, never gonna happen anyway...party pooper!)

Yeah, add a few (a few) more Movie/S3 characters to Ultra Magnus, and otherwise we have the same backstory.

But seriously, it's not that I hate any other iterations of Transformers besides G1 (though the Bayverse does push its luck in that regard), that's a pretty strong stance, but I don't much care for any of them either. I got about 3 episodes or so into BW years ago, and just felt whatever about it, and never went back to it. Didn't like it, but didn't hate it either. Just meh.

And the two should be Trailbreaker & Hoist because that way they only really count as one, so then we're owed a third! Jazz, Mirage, Hound, Skids...take your pick TT, as long as the rest aren't far behind!

 

I think Meh and moving on is totally respectable. That leaves the opening for reinvestigsting down the road, and also just means it’s not worth trashing.

Personally, I’m happy to debate the effectiveness of design about Bayverse stuff all day, and let’s be honest - they’re not the strongest designs of TFdom by and large, but I’ll freely admit there are a few good things about it.

In a good discussion, I’ll pull out my reasons I don’t like it, but honestly? Fans of it should enjoy it. My goal is to get them to look beyond it, not to walk away in disgust, because I feel that they’re missing out in some great - possibly better - stuff. It’s pretty much the same for BW or G1 hardcore too. Look past, accept validity, and have some fun.

 

There is no doubt Takara will attempt to make Rhinox and Rattrap because they feel Heroes should be made priority. But I'd rather have them make a Predacon next.

I would prefer to either see Scorponok, Terrorsaur, Tarantulas or Inferno as the next BW MP. I think the question is if Takara is comfortable making transforming Insects.

 

I think the next BW release will be someone who can pair well with Cheetor - since he hasn’t had a reissue yet, releasing a figure that pairs well with him can support sales for a reissue. Maybe Tarantulas to coincide with him getting trapped in the web early on in the series?
