You can always buy the Encore version for less than $100 if it bothers you that much.

The big question is will we see G1 reissues of the dinobots and the other combiner teams (other than the Constructicons)?
And yes I'd like to see more non-leader figures like G1 Mirage, Sunstreaker, and eventually headmasters and targetmasters.

Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, Mirage and the Dinobots are iffy, as the molds are said to be "lost". The Combaticons and Seacons are at least a possibility...

I pulled the trigger after getting a $25 gift card for my birthday. $25 to buy a set of coneheads? That's a no brainer, vintage or otherwise.

Absolutely a no brainier. I wish they'd do a single release instead of them coming together but oh well it's not that big a deal.

All you have to do is cut the long stalks down and wrap one layer of scotch tape over the shortened missile head for friction. It won't fire anymore, but holds fine and looks just like the originals.

I can definitely use a bumblebee reissue without the cartoon faceplate, and the Megatron/fists for the regular Starscream colors are nice! And mmmmmm minty Constructicons :lol . Ok ok, I'll try to contain myself to just the bumblebee haha

I think it would be better to pick up the loose short missiles off Ebay. That way the firing functionality is not lost. One good thing about the original G1 toy line from the 80 is that there are tons of parts and accessories to be found on Ebay. I wish that were also the same for Takara and third party masterpiece items.

I seem to remember that the vintage/japanese reissue missile and null-ray parts don't fit in the US release launchers. I'll have to dig mine up and double-check.

I managed to dig out both my Encore and Commemorative Series Skywarps. The stalks on the US version are indeed thicker, and the holes in the launchers bigger. The Japanese missile heads and lasers kinda stay in, but it's a bit loose, and the spring action is nonexistent.

Gotcha. So that means the entire missile assembly, launcher and missiles, would need to be replaced.

If you want a snug fit, yes. Thus my "tape around the cut stalks" method. It looks identical to the original in alt-mode, and I never cared about the spring functionality.

Mine wiggled a bit when I put the Japanese parts in the US launchers. I think it might be a YMMV situation.
