Yeah Heretech was the only name I could think of offhand. Are there any other names in TFs containing “tech” in their name?

 

If there are, they are either really obscure or slipping my mind because I can’t think of any.

 

I'm 99% sure the identity of the Grand Architect is known to the characters, but not to us. Roberts has done this before. Everyone and their mother knew Shockwave was a senator, but they didn't actually verbalize it until we (the reader) were informed of this. The characters never had any mystery about who Tarn used to be. When Tarn kills a certain Decepticon by putting her brain in her mouth, her last request isn't "tell me who you are," but "I want to see your face."

 

That's what I was rather badly trying to say earlier, so thank you for putting that in better terms than I did.

 

As do I - that’s why I figured “techy” was an abbreviation of someone’s existing name rather than shorthand for “the Grand Architect”. However I couldn’t think of any other Transformers with “tech” or “tec” in their name.

I think the Grand Architect's nickname of Techie might be our best clue yet. Might not even be a shortening of his/her actual name, but a nickname, kind of like how Optimus is often referred to as "Big Bot" or "Boss Bot."

Perhaps a Technobot? Strafe, perhaps? Or someone techno-organic? We haven't seen any signs of Nightscream in this continuity, have we?

I suppose it could also be a nickname for a new character created by Roberts, with a name like Technoman or something.

 

My only other thought on this thread (as I figure Wednesday will go some way in revealing who it is) - would be that not only has the G.A. been operating for a long time (re: Anode and Lug helping him out) but he/she is either
A) enough of a bad-ass
B) has a compelling enough mission
that *Scorponok* is willingly following their orders.

Scorponok, the same dude who tried to take over the Decepticons from Megatron and is constantly involved in some sort of scheming. I tried to think of who could fit this criteria and couldn’t think of many. Maybe Scourge from a “badass warrior” perspective, but realistically other than a namedrop/mention/sweep cameo in MTMTE 1 has never come up since.

 

Lol forget any of my suggestions; I not only want the Grand Architect to be named Technoman, but I want him to get visibly angry when they call him the Grand Architect.

Quintessons theory: makes the most sense from a larger IDW continuity perspective. They've never been used in IDW and they're typically connected to Unicron. Lockdown's connection to GA-related projects also makes sense if we're thinking of Lockdown as a mercenary willing to work for anyone--the Quints are outside the larger Autobot/Decepticon war.

Megatron theory: makes the most sense from a general series arc and character point of view. Megatron basically took over the book and drove the story all through Season 2, and everything with Getaway has been the fallout of that Megatron arc. Plus, the time travel theory is just convoluted and ridiculous enough for Roberts.

I'm in favor of... both? neither? I'm in favor of the series continuing after #25.

 

In the vein of all the Morrison talk, what if the Grand Architect is actually Bob Budiansky circa 1986 who can't be assed to even recall what he's doing or why, because he's getting a paycheck and he needs to finish off this nonsense so he can get back to writing Spider Man comics.

Lesse, 1) it should be someone from MtMtE/LL, not elsewhere in TF, 2) It could possibly involve time or dimensional travel, 3) It's not *necessarily* worldshaking (see Tarn revelation) but could be.

 

Much as I want it to be Quints or a head Quintesson, I was thinking this morning...I might not be too chuffed if it turned out to be Nova Prime. Would be kind of fitting to end things with the biggest d-bag IDW gave us.

 

So heres a theory. The Quintessons are themselves the Grand Architect, and the entirety of the Cybertronian race is just an experiment. An experiment that comes to a close in Lost Light, and Unicron is the Quints way of culling their experiments, erasing all existence of them ever existing.
