I would also buy the CD version and probably would have preferred it over the vinyl. If it ever gets released, my vinyl might maybe hang on the wall or will be put into a future Detolf that I'm considering to buy.

But I like the tactile feel of handling vinyls. When I was young I listend exclusively to vinyl, even audio plays for children. We only had a CD-Player in the late 80s.

I was at first even averse to buy vinyls as a DJ, because I looked at it as an outdated format. But after playing with them I still prefer vinyl. Although I like that you can have these small DJ stations nowadays where you don't even need discs anymore. I wish they could make turntable equipment smaller, so that you can have basically both. Less space usage and still play vinyls.

I hope the CD release will be a double or triple disc compilation and feature the tracks I'm missing. Because many of my favorite tracks that I wanted to have are not even on this soundtrack. So while it is cool to have this soundtrack, it's still a bummer and left me still wanting the soundtrack, because it's not complete (enough).

Yeah, but DVDs look like crap on bigger screens. I only have a 47 inch screen and I end up buying movies I already own on DVD as a Blu-Ray, because they look as if they were downloaded from the Internet. On CRT TVs that was different, the DVDs actually look alright there.

I recently caved and bought The Black Cauldron on DVD, because it STILL IS NOT AVAILABLE ON BLU-RAY. Really makes me mad. And this was a newer release so I hoped it might look better, but nope... looked as if it was downloaded from the Internet.

I get you. But you gotta remember theres lots more simple minded people out there who just want to see the action and enjoy the storyline. They dont care about quality picture and probally couldnt tell the difference sober let alone drunk or high. When it comes to cartoons or tv shows for a niche audience, its highly unlikely to get a blue ray release. All that remastering costs money and profit wise there would be no money to be made. And when it comes to music, even less people can tell the difference. Outside of the crackling and popping, the average music fan wouldnt even be able to tell the difference between CD and MP3 quality. Sound reached its peak. You cant make it any better. You can only make it worse by adding crackling and popping, hence the vinyl release. Which is sad for a soundtrack with so many pieces with no drums to hide all that damn humming and crackling.

Yes, just a repress. Vinyl colors are different, cover and content are the same.

I'm just a fan of physical media...been collecting for years, only my fave movies and music. I like being able to watch what I want without using the internet...just a preference.
I think I understand where you are coming from a bit better now. I think they released this as a collector item first...and hopefully a CD later. Hence the limited numbers. Personally, I just love the vinyl medium...the artwork, liner notes, all that. And it sounds great on my setup. We could talk all day about vinyl vs digital but you probably get what I'm saying. I do actually listen to my records, it's just not as often as I would like. These guys want to make money, and I think they got it right...trollish? I think that's a bit of a stretch. But you are right...who would buy a record player just for this?

Just look at the Ninja Gaiden OST on vinyl. More expensive, but sold quite well and tough to find individual discs at a good price. The CDs can be had for half the price and easy to get. I am sure they make more on the CD, but the desirability of the vinyl is what makes them do it. I really want to pick it up, but can't justify the cost of the vinyl. I will get it on CD and rip MP3s, as they didnt do a digital download option. At the end of the day, its no different than buying the TF toys themselves...these guys want to maximize profit.

But I tell you what the real coup is: they convinced people to spend upwards of 25 USD for new records. That, to me, is preposterous. But no matter what the prevailing popular tech medium is, sellers will charge top dollar for it. Long gone are the days of getting great shape, used records for under ten bucks. And even though most new albums are 180 gram, that doesnt justify the price increase. Tack on the fact most 'new' albums released on vinyl are simply digitally mastered in the first place?...its pretty rare that a band will put out an analog recording that will take advantage of the vinyl medium to the fullest.

Well I do get where youre coming from. We clearly collect different types of vinyl. Im under the assumption you collect LPs of what I would consider to be "live music" (bands that play instruments) I collect hip hop and electronic music and most of the vinyl I collect is singles not LPs. These singles come with instrumentals, acappellas, and remixes not released to the public meant for DJ performances. These singles generally have their 3 months of fame in a club, then they end up in storage in a DJs closet and eventually find their way to thrift shops as people move on with their lives. Quite frankly these records dont have always have the wear and tear a record played over and over by a fan would have. DJs cherish their rare gems....until CD and MP3 turntables with pitch control came out. Now they all converted their collections to MP3 and taken their closets back. I too would pass on the rarest of records if I can find its contents in MP3 form to safely store on a hard drive and a back up CD data disk in case the hard drive goes bad. Thats why CD-R will never disappear. Theres so many sites you can literally convert youtube videos into MP3 files. I love it when they do the hard work for me. But as a former DJ hobbyist, I need those DJ versions only available on vinyl. If I could get them on digital online for free I wouldnt give two craps about the record. Thats money saved I van spend on actual Transformers. Ive been had the entirr G1 score on MP3 from the fan made version. If I bought the CD it would be just for the hell of it. But I call the vinyl only release "trolling" becayse how many Transformers fans in their 40s really own turntables? This company knows that. They might be making money but theyre also losing money at the same time. If you were to count all the potential CD customers they lost with a vinyl only release, they probably didnt even break even.

They should've handled this release like Laced Records handled the upcoming Doom 2016 OST release: vinyl and CD options. I bought the double CD of that and would've done the same for this. I haven't owned a turntable since I was a kid and my entire physical music collection is on CD. Not gonna change it up now.

Given the first pressings sold out within five minutes, I'm surprised the second pressings on the ETR website are still available after a month. Plenty of stock, too.

As I said in the other thread, they screwed the pooch by releasing more of the second print run than the first. Had they printed half of the first pressing, it would have ensured a sellout and most likely a third printing in various different colorways. Not to mention the interest in these has died. No way they will print any more.

Yep. People only wanted this before because it looked like they couldn't have it. Now they'll just wait for Ollies like with the toys.

How much longer do we have to wait for a CD release ? G1 was 34 years ago, I mean come on already.

Plus they could put a lot more tracks on a CD.

How about G.I. Joe music as well ?

NOPE. Stupid vinyl with incomplete tracks.

I'm sure they'll release it on 8 Tracks, cassette and 5.25 inch floppy disquettes before we get a feakin' CD.

I want a double CD compilation like with Masters of the Universe. And most importantly all intro and ending themes and more music from season 3. It's great they made a soundtrack at all, but I'm not really satisfied yet, as most of my desired tracks are not on the vinyl.

But to collectors, only the initial run will be looked at as valuable...at least the Prime and Megs versions, with their manufactured scarcity at 500 copies each.

I'm glad enough are available for all. Hopefully we can get something more comprehensive soon...full scores, quality digital media.
