Keep in mind I said either or. Either Takara could very easily re release, or a Korean company will sell old molds under new plastics and deco slightly.

 

If this pos reissue is going to cost that much, MP BW Megatron will easily go for over $300

Ok, update: picked up the Year of the Monkey version for cheap on Amazon (sale + store credit) and I have to say this mold is TERRIBLE. I mean, wow. The gimmicks are bad and hinder the articulation worse than most Armada figures. The joints don't hold well together AT ALL. The torso/stomach region has "Who cares?" written all over it. The voice is cool but the constant annoying sound effects ruin it. All around, just bad. I still think this new one looks good but for how bad that mold is...just ouch.

Finally get an accurate Beast Machines toy and THIS is what we get? Jeez.

I never owned the original. I wonder if the problems you're listing are present in the new version or were in the original mold.

 

IIRC there's a method to replace the gimmick arm with a duplicate of the left arm from another copy of the figure. Not exactly feasible on the wallet for this new re-release but something to possibly consider for the YOTM release since it goes for so cheap.

The joints on mine are solid, so I have no issue posing him but yeah, everything else about him screams lazy and quick cash grab. The only technically improved part of him is his soundbox, which can now play more than one sound at a time. Everything else, including the sound effects, are inferior to the original figure.

 

Half full vs half empty?

Seems like the Pretender was an incentive... because any company wants to sell MORE than less, right? So, imo (and we're just splitting hairs here), Grand Max did not meet expectations. I wanna say he just barely met the required pre-sales... but I don't know. IRREGARDLESS (  ), not exceeding sales goals is akin to failure in the business world, and for expensive toys like Grand Max, it likely means TakaraTomy will NOT try a future run of a TITAN-class toy.  

 

That makes sense.... but given the tough economic climate for toys right now, why not skip this one?  

I think your choice will absolutely run circles around this toy (in terms of sales numbers).
