Got SS Jazz yesterday and I have to say he is tiny! Lol. I was already expecting him to be small from all the reviews but you don't really know how small until you have him in person. That said, he is a solid and fun little figure and I am glad I picked him up. Definitely don't think he is worth his regular price so I'm happy I got him on sale. The only issue I have with my copy is the the doors don't stay pegged in when in car mode which is a little annoying. Might try to shave the peg a bit to see if that helps.

Edit: Watched Peaugh's review and realized I didn't peg the car roof into the back of the hip when in car mode which is why my car mode was gappy. Pegging the roof into the hip fixed my car mode and now it's perfect!

Woohoo the review thread was split! Thank you mods!

I am really debating getting this guy right now. I WILL own him, but I just want to decide if I'm willing to pay $30 with shipping or if I want to wait. Why do all the smaller retailers charge so much for shipping??

Yeah I paid around the same for him plus shipping and he should be waiting for me when I get home. On his own, I would have only paid a few bucks above retail prices so I figured I'm willing to pay 10 bucks to ship to enjoy him a tad earlier.

Honestly, though, World Prime, being patient and hoping he shows up at retail is your best bet for spending the least amount for these toys if your local stores stock enough of em in the first place.

Remember when online retailers almost always were cheaper than brick stores? WTF happened?

FWIW, I've seen the local stores mark the Deluxes down to $18, and on Amazon the Dread was $15. That is MUCH more palatable.

Okay so I finally have Jazz and a few things are immediately apparent...

    • Despite his price, his cute, tiny size makes him extremely fun to play with.
    • He looks amazing in both robot and vehicle mode with a ridiculous amount of detail and paints applications. Vehicle mode is perfection and robot mode is inaccurate in the backpack, headlight placement, and the stubby toe. It's okay though because everything else is spot on.
    • All joints are solid without any panels popping off like SS Bumbleshit's, allowing him to achieve SS Optimus Prime levels of posing even without waist articulation.

And of course like every toy in the line, he's extremely posable and giving his tiny, lightweight form he can strike poses the others just cannot. Because of those reasons and despite his price, he's my favorite toy in the line by far. I love me some Blackout, but there's something about quickly and easily transforming an itty bitty, pocketable robot-car that Blackout's awesome, cumbersome form can't replicate.

Jazz absolutely rocks. Of course, it also helps that the designers knocked it out of the park with Jazz's Bayformer design. So, yeah, when he hits store shelves, sigh really loudly over his ridiculous price and buy him anyway.

im still in the crowd of "HA Jazz is one of the top 5 best retail TFs ever made" so this would have to be mind blowing to me.

Personally I actually think he scales pretty well, definitely a better fit than his 2007 deluxe.

Even after all the reviews I still wasn't quite prepared for just how tiny he is!

That last pic is exactly what I was hoping to see. This makes Jazz a $20 Scout, with little to nothing above $8-10 figures like RtS Windcharger and HftD Hubcap and Breacher.
While I do like the detailing and finish, for me the value just isn't there.
With how wave one is shelf warming locally, I'm kind I hoping these end up as holiday discount items at Five Below and Ollie's.
    $10? Why not.
    $20? Hell no.

I think it kinda evens out. Much more premium paint to offset plastic amount. decent weapon. $20 for an adult directed line of TFs at a retail store?!?!? sheeeeeiiit..ill buy em all.

The pics with Jazz and Leader brawl are PERFECT. thats neat scale there. should do comparison with screenshots to try to get as accurate as possible to figure out which brawl is better size wise too. here the leader looks right for this lil Jazz.

The greatest strength for this figure is definitely the FUN to play with.
Got all the wave 2 figures from Canada TRU on Thursday but only opened Jazz and Lockdown so far and spent most of the time fiddling with Jazz.

My copy had some issues with tabbing the door panels to the back piece but after shaving some plastic off tab and adding some superglue.
    It's all good now.
The only downside for me is that I can't get "two pieces of Jazz".

Calling it a scout figure is nonsense.
You don't get the premium paint, many clear parts and this level of complex joints on the shoulder.
Not to mention the "Scout Class" or legends figures nowadays have shrank in size and are much more simplified.
Just check out recent POTP legends figures like Beachcomber.

While I can't argue with waiting for the discount, I do find SS Jazz look way better than the rest of the SS deluxe in the package.

All your pics and comments made me cave and buy him. I got him through amazon where he's an insane $40 but with my points he only came to $7.50 which is pretty sweet. Only wish I didn't have to use all those points but it seems he's only in stock on ebay for $40 FROM TAIWAN at this point so I said fuck it. Should be here in a week.

I wish these damn figures would be released in stores at reasonable rates like they used to. Remember when we could all generally find the same TF toys in abundance around the same time in pretty much any store with a toy aisle? SIGH.

Yup, I remember that. I was 10 years younger and didn't understand the value of a dollar and a lot of my old Transformers are in a box collecting dust somewhere. At some point, I'll dig 'em out, dust 'em off, and paint 'em as is the tradition of the nerd. Did you ever paint toys yourself, World Prime?

And dude, about three weeks ago, Megatron and Brawl appeared at my local Walmart and I never saw them there again and I live in a huge metropolitan area where things arrive quickly and in abundance, typically. Also, gas is cheap here! My point is, I am beginning to believe that the studio series toys are just better bought online rather than playing the brick store lottery. You'll pay more, but dad gummit at least you can get em!

Yes I've painted most of my figures at least a little bit, especially these days where the sculpting and details get better and better but the paint gets worse.

These days I feel lucky to see half of wave 1 of a line two months after it's supposed to be released, and wave 2 about 6 months after it's supposed to come out.

Problem is online retailers are more like specialty stores these days which means a $20 figure like Jazz is $24, PLUS shipping, which really makes him more like $30, and that's if you wait til AFTER the scalpers release them a month early for $40!
