There is a good chance they won't lower prices much further till the very last couple days. The vultures keep coming in buying stuff at frantic pace (even at 50% off) as if they will never get a good deal on a toy ever again. But seriously, they are milking this thing till the very end. Plus, there are last minute buyer's (reseller's) lined up looking to scarf up whatever is left at the end when it hit's 80%-90% in the final day or so. It's such a wonderful sight to see *sarcasm

Niles was better, for sure. Boardman was much worse. Just carrying my son through the store had me drenched in sweat. Drenched. I'm so sorry you guys are going out with a whisper, rather than a bang.

Starting today, entire store is 60-80% off. Limited exceptions apply, your mileage may vary. My store is completely out of LEGO sets so I cannot confirm if those have dropped further.

Action dropped to 70% at ours, what little Lego was left went to 60%. It is looking sad with 5 days to go, as most of the products are on the front display areas, with 3/4 of the store roped off

That's kind of silly, you don't really need Garda, just have the store manager along with someone else make the last deposit run themselves. But really after the 24th, all sales should realistically be done, the liquidator should have a plan to have no merchandise left by Monday morning.

Our local TRU is circulating through the local stations that the final day they'll be open will be the 26th, with final sale prices at 80% off for the last two days.

I haven't been in the store since the first closing signs went up, as that week was complete chaos with people running frantically around looking for that sacred deal. As sad as it is to not go back, I think I'd rather that be my last memory of the place than go in in the final days and see it decimated. I used to come over with my parents from Fairmont to Sioux Falls to shop that store. Gonna be weird knowing that it's gone.

What a sad situation all around. I feel horrible for the people losing their jobs, and especially the ones that are toughing it out to the end in the conditions I've heard they're going through. I have no words other than sad, and as little as it's worth, I'm sorry to see it happen.

Kids show their report cards and get a free $5 Gift Card. I bet Toysrus US never had promos like that.

I will forever treasure my memories of buying my N64 & Playstation at TRU, as well as countless G2 Transformers and way too many WWF (when it was still called that) action figures and a wrestling ring there. That, FAO Schwartz, and before them Woolworth, were my childhood and adolescence in the 80s & 90s. The big TRU closed here years ago, but there was another one quite a ways out of town at least. Now they're all gone, or will be shortly.

There are still two dedicated toy stores in this town, and both are very nice, and long lived. Cozy. But this is the end of the giant stores filled with massive isles of toys as I knew them growing up. (I'll actually always miss Woolworth even more than TRU and other dedicated toy stores, honestly.) We don't even have a Walmart here now.

RIP TRU. (At least for now. Yeah there's some scant hope, but...) And yes I'm being sentimental about it, if you don't like that, tough.

I'd like to see if a company DOES buy the name, logos, etc and tries to open stores again. Obviously it'd be a SLOW process, but I can kiiinda understand why. Store fronts need a lot of work because TRU didnt upkeep well, so you'd want to go somewhere else. Maybe a few reopen at a discount. You arent dealing with the people that sank the main company, and you can do things your way. I'm sure SOMEBODY will try it.

The sad thing is that I suggested exactly that when I was a TRU manager...almost 20 years ago...

Went to my local one today for the last time. Sad to see it so stripped bare.

Now will have to look forward to TFCon weekend and I can hit the ones in Canada.

I went to my local TRU for the last time on Monday, June 25th. It was hard to bear seeing such a huge store completely empty. Vast empty spaces where there were once shelves filled with toys and games. Only a small section in the front remained. Nothing much left worth buying, but I did come home with a Star Wars TRU 2-pack with Admiral Akbar for under $10. My very last purchase from TRU, ever. All that is left are childhood memories. Good memories.

I will miss you, TRU. :cry

My last purchase was the Studio Series Thundercracker. That is a hell of a toy to go out on.

I ended up taking my kids a few last times. Basically if they got money from chores or birthdays, etc, they wanted to go and see what last things they could get. They've done really well. I think the final final visit to a TRU will be the one last weekend in Indianapolis while we were passing through on the way to home. It was so wrecked and cleaned out, and so ridiculously hot that I don't want to go again. I'm glad that was a TRU I'd literally never been in before because at least I'll have the memories of the other stores I'd frequented a lot both as a kid and with my own.

Yeah, I don't know if I'd have picked a bayverse Thundercracker as the last exclusive for TRU, but I'm glad it was him. That's such a great toy all told and I've long had a soft spot for Thundercracker in any form.

I will miss TRU a lot. I have fond memories of going to the store events in Monroe, LA when I lived there with the kids. And these TRU's close to me in Ohio were all awesome. The kids loved them. Every time I visit they ask me why the store is closing and what will take it's place. It's heart breaking explaining all this to two kids 10 and under. For that age, nothing can replace the feeling of going to a store, hunting down the aisles, and finding that one magical toy you always wanted. It just won't be the same at Walmart and Target.
